I have thousands of files now that I'm dealing with and the task is somewhat overwhelming. I have already spent who knows how many hours ripping and changing file names so they will appear properly in my books.
If I can add a suffix like CB or PHM to the end of a file name like- Jones, George - She Stopped Loving Her Today - (suffix) - globally to an entire folder- this would save me many, many hours, even days.
I know this has been discussed, but help me out, I'm going crosseyed and my brain is turning to mush from days and days of staring at the screen and fixing filenames. arghhhhh . . . I'm losing it!

Again, use KJ File Manager. It does what you need.

Ok, I downloaded the demo and played with it and it does a\exactly what I need. I wish I would have asked or known before, it would have saved me a lot of time.
This is what the program can do that I'm interested in, change the order of a track for a whole folder like from PHM456-789 - Country Song - Allison Krause to Krause, Allison - Country Song - PHM It takes a couple of steps, but well worth it. I have thousands of Chartbusters songs in one folder that all need CB put at the end and the artist field flipped on many or most of them. I have a bunch more discs that still need to be ripped too.
Sevarin, I owe you big time. Thanks

Or you could use a program called Rename Master from JoeJoe's it also does a lot for renaming and the best part is it is FREE!

Thanks Lone Wolf. I was all excited and then I took a nap and went back and tried to do some test editing with KJ file manager and the song files I selected just wouldn't edit the way I wanted and it was kind of a pain in the butt to operate. Either that or I just couldn't get the hang of it. so the search continues.
Anyways, I have been searching the internet for a general tagging program that I could use to change file attributes of any file, not just for mp3 files because I found that the graphics file can't be edited with mp3tag. I haven't tried yet, but I was wondering if I zipped the mp3 and the graphics file together and THEN edited the file attributes if both would get the file name, title, artist, book ID etc. changed at the same time?
Anyways, I'm going to check out JoJo. Thanks for the tip.

Found Rename Master, tried it and it works. It was a little overwhelming at first and it took me a while to figure out how to save the changes, but it's pretty cool. I like it better than the KJ File Manager because it's easier to use once you get the hang of it and it does a lot more than KJ File Manager. I can see how you could add the manufacturer ID like CB or PHM or TT etc. to the end of a bunch of filenames in a whole folder very easily. Thank you very much.

I use File Renamer from Sherrod Systems for mas file name changes and updates. http://www.sherrodcomputers.com/product ... enamer.cfmI bought the Deluxe version solely for the "Undo" function. There have been a couple of times over the years that feature alone has saved me from my fat fingers. -Chris

That's one feature that I didn't like about KJ File Manager Chris. I tried editing a few test files and it input a ! at the beginning of each file name and then I made a couple of changes and saved it. When I tried to re-edit the files in that folder the program wouldn't import them again so I could re-edit. This REALLY turned me off big time.
By the way, I remembered a program that I've used in the past that's kind of cool. It may or may not help anyone, but it's called Tagscanner. It's free and seems to be very stable. It can do quite a lot. Check it out.
