And, by "bag of tricks," I mean what are the things you do that set you apart, or that you know you can fall back on to provide entertainment for others?

* Since I'm not very talented vocally, but have been lucky in regards to having rhythm, the first thing in my bag of tricks is, as I have said before, rapping at karaoke. Even if I don't know the song, but get asked to do it, I can usually get it right based on the beat.
* Impersonation. I do a mean Tim Curry-esque "Sweet Transvestite."
* Soloing a duet, particularly where the voices are very different. My newest trick is doing "Angel" by Shaggy, which I started doing when I realized that singing like Shaggy is basically just a deeper, slightly Jamaican version of doing a Kermit the Frog voice.

I'm also a fan of defying convention, when possible. If I'm at a new place, and dressed super-conservatively, that's when I'll bust out the hard rock and rap stuff (if it seems appropriate). If I'm dressed more casually, tattoos showing and whatnot, that's when I'll break out the Bobby Darin.

What are yours?

Well.... one song that I sing (on occasion), is "Hair." When I perform this song, I put on a yellowish-green punk-rock/mullet styled wig. At the end of the song, I pull it off and start twirling it above my head (as I sing the last note).

Another song that I ham it up with, is "Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh" (I've retired this song, but I might take it out of mothballs some day). When I get to the part where I sing,
"Take me home
Oh Muddah Fadduh
Take me home
I promise I will not make noise
Or mess the house with other boys..."
I get down on my knees and look like I'm begging.

Oh, my other one: fast songs. "It's the End of the World," "We Didn't Start the Fire," "Slow Jamz." Having them memorized and not having to look at the screen helps immensely.

I have been singing since I was 6. My trick song is many but signature song would have to be singing Summer Nights solo. On very few occasions do I not get a standing ovation. :-)
