Sometimes, just sometimes, a certain track must be on a certain maufacturer. Eg, Elton John's I'm Still standing. I' tried many versions and messed about with the key to no avail BUT then I discovered Pioneers version. TA DA !!!!! This is the correct one, with the correct key. So maybe the person is asking for a particular track because it's the only they can sing as it's in their key, and get the hump coz you've not got it. It maybe the only song they can sing. Just a thought.
I would just appologise most profusely (and hope they don't come back the next time I'm in that place. I've got a gig this wekend and am hoping a certain girl who sings like an angel doesn't ask, yet again, for a certain track).

To all these things I'd just add it wouldn't hurt to let the singers know that there are at least occasionally times when Sound Choice definitely is NOT the best version available and it might be worth their while to give your version a try.

I just picked up a Pioneer Disc on clearance for all of $5 the other day and made the serendipitous discovery that the Pioneer version of Christopher Cross's "Sailing" just plain kicked Sound Choice's butt - especially in the intro where the Pioneer version used a real string section vs a very cheesy synthesized version on the Sound Choice.

I'd bought the disc to accommodate a singer looking for a Roberta Flack song I didn't have and what a delight to find that not only was the requested track quite good, but that there were several other very usable tracks I didn't have...

I've mentioned on here before, if I've never tried any manu of a song, that I'm singing out, I'll go to the pioneer version, because, in my opinion, it will have the highest probability of being closest to the original song.
