Ok for those of you who can read between the lines, i think you'll know where i am eventually going with this, but for now I am strictly interested in if it can be done.
So on a sick whim, i downloaded a track from karaoke channel that i already own on one of my soundchoice discs to see if i could sync up the music from karaoke channel with the graphic file from soundchoice.
No such luck, karaoke channel has taken all of the tracks and removed the introduction 'dead' air that would cue the startup graphics screen, so that the music starts immediately.
Ok, so theoretically it should be possible to put the dead air back into the karaoke channel file so that the music is the exact same length.
Does anyone know how i can match up the two files with either audacity or with Reaper?

Get a rough estimate of the offset needed by playing the cdg and make a note of it. Make a copy of the cdg & the mp3 with a different name in a different folder just to be safe example Girl.mp3 Girl.cdg
rename to different folder as GirlTest.mp3 and GirlTest.cdg
open Audacity -
Import the mp3 of the renamed song
top menu choose generate-silence insert desired seconds&milliseconds to add. export with a new different name.
repeat until you get it synched.
You can also download a free program named CDGeditor that allows you to load a cdg file and actually see and manipulate the time stamps of each cdg event as the graphics display. Easier to figure out what offset you need this way. With some tweaking and some basic programming you can also use it to get rid of nasty screen artifacts like yellow dots, green squares and red horizontal bars etc. You can also change the foreground and background colors.
the newer versions of CDG Creator Pro allow you to directly import cdg files and work fairly well but usually need tweaking.

Thank you SO much, it worked like a charm.
I pretty much manaage to match it up exactly after a few failed attempts. So I now have one working karaoke file from two paid for sources
this could be promising
