Thanks for the suggestions! Again, which mixer do you have? The DFX12 if I recall - correct? Nope, I still have this one:(owner's manual link)

I was gonna buy the mackie cfx, but turned out my mixer wasn't broken.

Yeah I caught that & re-edited my post.
Man, sorry to say, it is too bad your mixer still worked (not that I was wishing it didn't mind you), the CFX would have been IDEAL for this processor as it has 2 individual effects sends & returns so you could have gotten full use out the processor while bypassing the internal efx.

Yeah, it's time for another mixer....As I am going outboard now, I don't even want onboard FX. You can't disable the ones on mine and the same for many with built in FX...I'm going to needs several post fader aux sends, 3-4 stereo inputs and at least 6 mono inputs...And it's gotta be rackable....I'll get around to it eventually.

Mackie 1642!!!! This is my next board I have on layaway now. 8 Mic inputs & 4 stereo channels (16 channels total), 4 Aux sends 1 & 2 are pre or post, Aux 3 & 4 are post. True 4 buss design - with channels assignable to the busses or to the mains directly (good for effects returns through the channels). 3 band swept mids on all mic channels, 4 bands on stereo channels. Direct outs on all mic channels for recording, busses also have direct outs for 4 tracking. Great board for live AND home recording that won't break the bank.

Ouch!...go read the reviews at samedaymusic.
It seems it has lots of failures and quality control problems right out of the box....I'll keep reading and see if the newer reviews indicate they fixed it.
Edit:...Chatted with guys at Sweetwater.........Yes, they did have lots of returns when initally introduced...They say it happened when Mackie first moved the manufacturing overseas and the pressure was on to get the VLZ series on the street...Now they claim it has a very, very low return rate...I tend to trust those guys there.

Badsinger,
I did to use it for my singers, But it isnt something that is automatic as i thought it would be. It is far too much trouble to use in a show. I use it in my studio.

Yeah I've owned Soundcraft in the past. Nice boards. This one seems to be lacking some key features & cost $100 more. The EQ on the stereo channels only 2 bands. 100hz low cut over 75hz cut. No busses (important feature for recording - for me anyway).
A couple things I do like right off is the mono sum w/control, the direct out pre/post switch. But I would still opt for the Mackie for me.
Yes I did know about the initial complaints after they went overseas, but that was almost 4 years ago & have pretty much fixed since.

Hey Lonman,
One feature I really like about this new Lexicon unit is the "Hardware Plugin" thang...You just connect it USB + S/PDIF and install the software...Then you have a real hardware outboard unit that you manipulate/control via your PC.
I guess I need to also look for that feature when I shop for mixers....After all, my goal is to someday record high quality thru my PC....So I might have to reconsider my new MB and soundcard.
Time to call the guys at Sweetwater again. Most of them there have some sort of home studio going on.
