This came from the new advice to kj's thread, but it's basically an idea of what gets played in which areas, if possible, keep track of your playlist - easier on more of the computer programs, disc base would need to write them down.  how many songs did you get in a night between what times.  If you don't list your city, then it woun't do any good - trying to get a general idea of what gets sung on average where.

Great list(s) Lonman.  It shows what's the same and what's different.
I've started to keep my slips from previous shows.  After my show tonight I'll fill you in on what's being sung (but not by night and hours)

Thanks

Seeing Purple Rain Reminds me I sang 2 songs in 4 1/2 hours. Opened with Good Hearted Woman and during the fury had an inspiration. I told Greg put me in 7. I aint never seen you do Prince. One of our reg gals (a student here at UNC went nuts when he title came up on the big screen. I motioned her up and she grabbed the other mic.

We nailed most of it then I started getting tired Forgot how long that song is but it's one of my all time favorites. If you have never done it you have to try it at least once. It is one of the best songs ever written. Later Greg did Purple Rain with the lights real low and everybody holding their cell phones up. It's amazing how an old artist can still take over a show..

It is about 8am  here and after about 5 hrs sleep I'm still wired from last night. I made a deal with one of the owners for Thur nights Just to get started $100. Reg here now is $175 and I told him this is he only bar I would do that for Intention is getting 3 nights.  He agreed I dont have any problems with raises when we pack out In fact we could demand about what we wanted. Also bar owners are coming in and checking us out and a bar 30 min East wants us bad. Thats another reason for being totally up front with the people you contract for.  About 2 hours later my old mind kicked in and it dawned on me Why didnt I tell him we would do both thur and fri for $150 I'm going to call another owner mon with that prop.

They are going to move a wall to expand soon My goal is 3 nights/week for $600 which is very probable in about 6 mo.. Opinions? Ideas?

Edit These are pre coffee ramblings of an old mind. LMAO

Saturdays are a grab bag with more diversity than Thursdays (my only other karaoke night). We get a few drop-ins  from other rooms that can handle the vibe. Last night I was missing a few key regulars including the main rappers. There was also practically no dance action so singers were adjusting their slips accordingly. And like zombies that won't stay buried, up came both Before He Cheats and (gasp) Picture.

I got my player to save but can't figure out how to cut and paste so I entered it manually, listing authors on some things that might not be easily identified. There was a lot of interesting segues and juxtapositions of styles though.

If  this thread is still going I'll put up next Thursday which is more typical of the room.

That's great all keep it coming.  I forgot to list my list as I have to hand write them.  I see some familar songs in the lists provided -- remember list your 'general' location as well don't have to give any club specifics for those 'on the lamb'....lol  And also how many songs you got in your hours you work.

My club's in Oregon. Looks like we got 62 in. We go to 2:30am and start is whenever  I have three, which can be anywhere from 9 to 9:30 or even 9:45. I can't remember exactly last Sat but it was on the late side.

The owner is fine with this, and it gives the room a bit of a break since drinks go up as soon as karaoke starts. Before that it's the jukebox which is on relentlessly. But once in a while I'll throw a dance track or two on to start if I'm asked to. Never during karaoke... I started out doing this and it was too confusing, and irritated the singers.

Lonnie Roxbox has a logging feature which I forgot to turn on. I thought I could pull up karaoke in access which has 6 or 7 months of shows and after loading my mind totally died. LMAO

Next show I will turn it on I would like to figure out a way to log karaoke and fill music.

Thanks ericlater. And Lonman and mcky.

For me this is more than just seeing what's up with you guys. I have huge holes in my book and if a song pops up in a few places that I don't have, I need to take care of it.

I usually end the show with "One Love" by Bob Marley thanking the singers and dancers and reminding everyone to tip the bartenders. Sometimes I'll play til 330am if the crowd is still drinking and dancing. The bar/restaurant closes at 4am and re-opens at 7am for breakfast. Always busy with tourists.
