Yes, I know there are very good high end wireless mics around. I just can't afford them right now. I am looking for UHF two mics to a single rack mountable receiver. Anyone have some suggestions for a decent sounding mics that is in $200-$300 range?

I saw a few on eBay and would love some feedback on these ones. They all look decent on the spec, >100dB SNR, THD <0.5%, 40Hz to 18KHz, etc. However, they only tell part of the story.

Mic 1
Mic 2
Mic 3
Mic 4

I have no clue how they are so anyone with opinions would be great. Thanks.

I was considering mike 4 before I finally went with mike 3. Haven't used them yet as I am finally getting my transportation in order. Battery life wise I would still go with mike 3. Battery life for mike 3 is 30 hours for 1 aa battery. I believe the others come in at 8 hours for 2 AA batteries per transmitter. I don't know anything about the other two. I would however do some more searching for the AKG's as I got mine for $100 less than they are being sold for in that auction. something more like this:

With wireless mics, if rack mounted I prefer the antennas on the face. Maybe it is just me.

I needed some cheap mics until I could afford Shures and was gonna buy the Pyle 2600s on buy.com but I purchased some made in china no name drunk mics off of EBAY that JoeChartreuse recommended on a different board.

Vocals sound great and they seem to be made of a durable ABS, not gonna drop them just to test them.
Everyone thinks I spent hundreds on them. But no they are not comprable to SHUREs.

WOW, I like that deal...Hmmm, maybe I should take my KJs offer on those drunk mics I have.

Not xlr outs. 1/4" individual outs. I use an adapter to connect them into my mixer.
the link I gave you is actually the people I bought mine from and can attest that they are quick in shipping out their product. The only thing is that you need to get a rack kit for it to fit into your rack.

I would go with the AKG, for nothing more than I know their reputation & quality in most respects. But that would be based on not hearing any of them, but the others I wouldn't trust in a service situation if needed. At least AKG is a well known brand & do have great service policies.

It's a balanced 1/4" so it would just need a TRS 1/4" to XLR cable.

Thanks for the advice. Two questions. Does not having XLR connection have any influence on the quality of the sound? Second, is there a rack kit you can buy easily for the unit?

I also own a set of the AKG Dual set. Great sound and battery life for the money. I would say that it is the best deal in town in that price range. The only complaint that I have about them is that the battery compartment seems a little flimsy and that you need to be extra careful when changing the battery so as not to break the plastic clip that holds the cover onto the compartment. I paid 329.00$ for them. :read:

I have a Shure PG4 receiver with a Shure PG58 wireless mic, and it has been great. I don't use it in my weekly karaoike show, but use it in all private parties and DJ gigs. I have had it about 3 years with ZERO issues. It has probably been through about 35 gigs, and is still perfect. 9 volt battery life on the mic is about 5-6 hours, never have any problems with interferance or drop out. Range without barriers is about 150-200 feet, but it will also go through walls to about 75-100 feet (I know, I once sang a verson of Purple Rain in the bathroom stall for the natural acoustic effects  ).

I'd recommend this wireless mic in your price range!

Hate to bring gloom and doom in my first post (though I've been lurking a while). The AKG WMS 40 on the eBay link is on the FCC's wireless mic ban list as it operates between 698 & 806MHz. Using it becomes illegal after June 12th this year.

They do have updated models of correct frequency now in the mid 600 mhz range, so this would be a question to definitely ask the seller. Although if in doubt, just go through a reputable store & buy it at the same price knowing you are getting the correct frequency AND free shipping to boot.

Really? No wonder they did not list the frequency range. Is it even legal for them to sell these? I guess it won't be after June 1st? Some of these auctions go beyond June 1st.

Maybe I will go with Mic #4 instead.

I knew about Shure mics. However, the price is way out of my range. I would have to pay over $600 to get two mics. Thanks for the advice though.

I have been using Digital Reference wireless microphones for some time. They're made my Audio Technica. Here's a link...

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Digital-Ref ... 1127054.gc

I can tell you this, they are fantastic. They have crystal clear reproduction, are made well and probably one of the best kept secrets. I'll put them against any of the mentioned brands including Shure. They have a fantastic range with no interference.

I've tried the others and for the money, imho these are the bomb! Don't pay more than 250 for them though.

Again, I need two mics and that makes these out of my range of affordability.
