Since day one, I have been honest regarding commenting on your songs. I can quote myself over and over, stating that the vocals were to loud, to much FX, bla bla bla the list goes on. Also, I can quote myself over and over, where I would say that it's a fantastic mix, vocal presentation and once again, bla bla bla the list goes on.

On the other hand, I have received numerous emails/PM's from people asking for clarification of my statements, or asking for more detailed help.

Soooooo, I've been the horrible person, the helpful Boy Scout and the loving father at some stage to most of our valued members.

I have never been hurtful for no good reason , or have ever slammed for mic noises repeadedly (unless you sub 5 songs in a row). What I have done, is helped many members in my spare-time, and enjoyed doing so.

Refering to All Forums » Singer's Forum » Puzzled About Comments Verses Ratings one of the members there decided to make me look as bad as possible and launch a personnal attack. I will not mention names, but my poll question is

Do you want me to put up my Sunday face and lie to you, or would you like me to give my opinion? A simple yes/No question. If you would like me to always tell you you're the best and have no room for improvement, fine, I can do that. I won't lie to you if that's your choice, you'll be lying to yourself.

I leave this in the hands of my fellow members, and will respect the decision. You want me to comment honestly (Yes) or not (No)

Allstar, you are more than welcome to say ANYTHING on my subs. I always appreciate you taking the time to listen (when I do get to sub LOL), and I respect anything you say, from "that was wonderful" to "you were awful, and it was not your best :)"

I am here to learn, and I can't learn anything if all the comments I get are "Good Job" all the time to spare my feelings. I can handle critisism and such. I am going to have to for when I am famous and in the National Enquirer LOL! :)

I respect you and anything you say :)

That goes for anyone here :)

Hey AllStar!

Be honest Bud!! Do it in your typical 'nice' way. Comment on the good (so folks know what NOT to change) and the not as good, like you have done so many times!

Personally (as if there is anything impersonal about comments), I like to get a balanced comment. Honest is good, and well intented is WAY BETTER. If there is something (a note, the song, the mix, an effect) that made you whince --- SAY IT!!!

But be nice, would ya!!??!! ;)

When I actually get round to subbing another song (my soundcard has finally died and I need a new one), you are MORE than welcome to give your honest opinion on my songs... I welcome honest opinions from everyone... if ppl just say "wtg" or whatever, it gives me nothing constructive to work on and improve, so constructive crits are great!

Allstar, everyone who knows you knows you're in this firstly, to have a good time, and secondly to give your honest opinion in the interest of helping others. I will always appreciate that, so don't you go changing your ways! I'm sure a lot of people will back me up on this.

And at this time I want to thank you for always being the first one to help me. You're sweet as sugar and always go out of your way to help your fellow human! :D

 I just got slapped on the wrist by Luly

OK Steve, here goes, I'll still gag, but what the heck, if it makes you feel go, I'll do it.

Steve, I listened to your sub and found your voice and mix to be MARVELOUS, ASTONISHING, ADMIRABLE, MIRACULOUS, SUPERNATURAL, GLITTERING, STRIKING AND DISTINCTIVE.[Edit]!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Allstar , Man I've always appriciated your helpfull comments. The first few of my posts that you commented on , I felt you were genuine and on the money with your constructive criticism . I think I've learned a bunch from you as well as others here as far as mixing and recording are concerned.
I now see you mostly praising my subs , does that meen that you think I've improved , or is this your Sunday face I'm seeing ?...If it's not ,Thank you again...if the latter , I wanna' see some more of your Monday face ! Just go with what ya' know bro'.

I am happily surprised with the reactions, and specifically to KJ Denndogg, my dear friend, I don't have different faces, you're the one that has improved. I now know what you can do, so now you have set yourself a benchmark to which I measure you upon. That just means I am more critical. There are many more people that fall in that catagorie. Luly is one that has also improved dramatically (even if she slaps me around ever so often :D ). Another example is Steve and Budacris, OP and Tonmay, ............. I wish I could mention every one, but I can't remember them all. I'm sorry about that!

I'm all for honesty in commenting. I can't learn anything from all the pats on the back, but I can sure learn from tactful, constructive criticism. A lot of people here are craving appreciation (which is natural) and one way to get good reviews is to give them. I do have to be a bit careful in dishing out any criticism as I don't have a large level of experience and I wouldn't like to wrongly tread on any toes. I think the more experienced among us would be more than welcome to give help and advice. We all soon get to know who you are and respect you for taking the time out to listen to our subs and comment.

AllStar,

I think it's important for people to accept a remark on the quality of there performance and also comments about the sound quality! How are we going to improve if no one gives us any advice?

You are in a position where it is possible to give advice because you are able to show the good examples!! :)

DON'T CHANGE!!

Take Care!

I am fairly new to this site and for a while all I did was listen and read comments. Doing that, I found that AllStar was one of a group of folks that, when he gave a pat on the back for a job well done, he meant it. Also, when he gave criticism, it was always in a KIND manner and always constructive. He never said a negative without balancing it with a positive. I, for one, welcome his comments.

Please feel free to comment on my subs, AllStar....anytime! Pat or kick...either is appreciated!!

By all means be honest with feedback on my subs (and everyone elses)! And I don't mean just you either - I mean everyone. If you can't hear the music, hear my voice, I'm off key, my mics are crap, the SC disc just happens to be the bad version, whatever, let me know.

Without constructive critisism I can't grow any further than what I can hear myself. While I have a pretty good ear for music and putting a mix together I don't have the experience or knowledge to critique my own work effectively (and usually anyone elses's!) or always know what to do to make the end result better. Feedback from the more experienced of the group is what I come for - the friendly people and wonderful environment are why I stay.
