Maybe the squid is singing to someobdy in the hopes of "doing a duet" or something. Heh, heh.
As an aside, Chuck won my heart with "I'm Henry VII, I Am" but I don't recommend that one for just anyone!

No way! I like oldies songs. Used to sing them for my husband only, because he liked them also. Now, I sing them just because I think they are the only ones I do well enough to sing in front of anyone. He sang a lot of them too. Hope he wasn't singing to pick anyone up back then!!! That was then, and this is now! So would I want to sing to pick someone up? Not at all. Had the best!

When I was single....I guess I cared. It was more of a general opinion thing, but a lot of guys made it clear my voice was a soft spot for them. I never tried to pick up guys though... . What a guy was thinking as I sang definitely crossed my mind more than once, but more as a self esteem thing...when I started actually singing FOR people I was crawling out of a black hole 13 year relationship. Now I care cause I want to know I sound ok...that's about it. :D

I only sing to get away from the people trying to pick me up....It's my escape..."NEXT UP IS SHARON....OH HEY... I GOTTA GO SING!!!! SEE YA LATER!!!"
Then I am outa there and conviniently forget to go back to the person I was talking to when I was called up.....

I should count myself as lucky. Noone ever tries to pick me up and I know it's not just because I'm married.

Oh man! This is one cruel thread. A guy gets a few miles on him and you all think it's time for the last round-up. I may be the oldest person here chronilogically but the truth is I'm still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.
I've been single again for the past 2 1/2 years so I'm always aware of attractive members of the opposite sex but it has really never occurred to me that my performance is going to move any of them sufficiently that they will insist on having their way with me.
One the greatest disappointments of my life has been the absence of groupies. I became a musician primarily because I saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan (quiet down you young whippersnappers . . . on a good day I can still take most of you). One of the attractions was all of the gorgeous young women who were throwing themselves at the Fab Four. Well, except for an isolated cased or two over the past 40 years it never happened to me.
The other thing is that most of the women in my age category are taken—married or with someone. And as I tell all my friends who are very envious of my single status and who see me dating sweet young things; 25 year old women didn't seem very interested in me when I was that age. Why would they be interested now? Besides, after all is said and done you have to talk sometime. What in the world would I talk about with a woman that age?
So, no I don't think about picking up someone when I sing. But just in case an attractive, wealthy and willing woman likes my singing and decides to go with her desires, I don't think I would struggle much.
