I love this forum. Sometimes it's like going to what you assumed was a hot chick mud wrestling match, arriving drunk, and not realizing til you see the photos on your buddy's Facebook page that you some how ended up in the wrestling pit ...
... and the chicks were fat.
Can't we all sing a song!!!!??? A one, A two, A three ...

Maybe I can try explaining BFFL's anaolgy a little differently....
I like Vanilla, Chocolate, and Strawberry Icecream. When I go out to a place, I like to order all three flavors for dessert. If I am told that you are out of 1 of those flavors, I might not want to have the other two for dessert, so I will decide to just ask for my check and leave. Or, I might decide to stay and order a cup of Cappuccino, but I probably won't enjoy it as much as I would have if I had had my 3 scoops of Icecream served up with it. Now, let's say you do have my dessert.... I will order it, and I may not eat all three flavors because I was full. I may only eat 1 or 2 of the scoops in my plate, but I still completely and totally enjoyed it merely for the fact that they had it.

OK OK OK I will play your cd But I do ask you sprinkle it with HOLY WATER Cross thyself and kneel to the karaoke gods before approaching the stage. At which time thy will remove all jewelry and shoes for you enter a holy area.
Methinks the fanatics here are stark raven mad. You speak of conditions and rules as if they were brought from the mount by Moses himself. You have a maniacal need for rituals at shows. You speak of karaoke gestapo and gods. Karaoke hosts must abide by unwritten rules and laws promulgated by the greedy rich ones which are groundless and ignored by Federal officials. You have no motive other than your treatment of a vocation as a religion. You are selfish and have no regard for the opinions of others because of your meglomaniac contamination of something we all love.
This is music. It has been free for centuries. Families have sang together for generations. Now they must pay to the ones that want a piece of the action. It is the most regulated industry in the world. I have reached that point to which I stand and say F878 you!!My children will sing!!! And they will not be charged but will be protected by the constitution of this great nation.
For when the greedy fanatics think they have control of the masses the masses rise up and become just as fanatic and regain control and freedom as it was written in the beginning. These things are written in the winds and come to pass.
Forget your greed rituals and control. LET MY CHILDREN SING...

Too bad for you All of my songs are backed up in numerous places. I guess I'd be screwed if my house caught on fire though.

There was a thread 6 months or so ago that went on forever about whether or not to play a customers disc, so I think this thread might have a lot of life left in it. Hell this thread might go 10-12 pages or more....... .....scuse me while I get a mich ultra and kick back...

Cabaret Karaoke
Cabaret in itself denotes song dance & comedy in that order. Our main format is karaoke but the theme can be modified into a full party mode at a moments notice. The ratio of karaoke to dance is determined by the needs of the crowd. We can provide a full service with any party theme or provide entertainment. For all your party needs please google cabaret karaoke

surely a safe deposit box would protect something as valuable karaoke discs?
If only I had thought of it sooner I wouldn't be in the position I am now in!

At least now I know the following if I come to SOME of your shows:
You will look down upon me if I am not a good enough singer to sing cold out of a book.
If I do buy my own version to practice and get the thrill of actually being able to sing a song I love when I never thought I could do it then I am a diva.
If I sing lots of songs by people I love then I think I'm them. (I used to love the Elvis impersonators where we went. Some sing Sinatra because its their era and it makes them happy.)
If I just get a thrill listening to a certain musical background and it really makes me happy to hear those bells clanging in the background on Viva La Vida on the Zoom version rather than the less orechestrated CB version so I bring my own then I don't know how to have fun at a karaoke show.
Here all these years I've been attending shows where people just did what they loved or was fun for them. It was a mix of all elements and styles and levels of accomplishment and discs or kama kazi. I thought that was what karaoke was but now I see the error of my ways and truly feel bad that I've been such a pain to the hosts all these years.

I love all the hosts saying "my way or the highway". One wonders how successful their show is if they give off that vibe....
