The SXa250's are 15" speakers in a wood cabinet...nothing like the 360's. While they are a two way the crossover and phasing that EV uses produces a very clean sound and good midrange. Not as good as a 3-way, but better than most 2-ways. I have them and they replaced 3-way passive speakers and sound as good if not better.

Ok, I think i did see those, don't they have a multi angle cabinet so they can be used as a floor monitor if you want? I seen them but I didn't get a chance to hear them. I like EV quite alot actually, they used to make some of the EV lines about 50 miles from here, over in Buchanan Michigan. I think I still have some EV SRO's and a couple of compression drivers. Used to be able to get some pretty good deals back in the day. You have to admit, they are getting a bit pricey. They want more for an SXA360 then I Paid for a U15P. Can't justify that.

Yes, they are the multi-angled cabinet. They do sound very good. I compared them to the Mackie 450's and JBL Eons, as I was looking for powered, easy to haul speakers. The EV's sounded the best. I never thought about Yorkville at the time, so I can't tell you how they would compare, but they sounded better than the Mackies, better bass response.

I bought them new for the same price as the Mackies, even thought they retail for more. I do business with a pro sound company in the Twin Cities, and they usually will deal some. I would suspect if you could find a dealer in your area, they would be competitive. I think EV wants to penetrate the smaller pro speaker market a little more.

I thought EV was still operating in Buchanan, even though the headquarters moved here to Minnesota.

I've always had good luck with their equipment.

No Dennis, I'm afraid Electrovoice was just another one of those companies that started in Michigan, made a few people rich, contaminated the ground and then moved onto another location. Nice little article here.

I wouldn't doubt that, EV makes some nice gear, but like i mentioned earlier, they do seem to be at a little higher price point especially when you get into the mid level gear. I don't have many places locally to look at gear anymore, there used to be at least five decent music stores in Kalamazoo, then GC moved in and eventually took over the market. Now if I want to look at higher end gear and talk to a knowledgeable sales staff, I have to drive about 80 miles over to Lansing. I don't know what your experiences have been but here as audio equipment experts go most GC sales staff would make better vacuum cleaner salesmen.

Guitar Center - The Best Buy of music gear...now Best Buy is opening a music store in Best Buy (I think the first one is here in Mpls).

Most of the sales people who work for Best Buy or Guitar Center, were working at McDonalds or Burger King last week...

Plus everything is overpriced.

Michigan is not exactly the first choice of companies looking for places to locate. Unions there played hardball for a lot of years, and companies steer clear.
