Hey seriously Vicki, it's been proven that most Americans do know there is a world that exists outside their borders...  just ask any one of them to name a country that begins with the letter 'U'....   I can guarantee you will get answers ranging from 'Uganda' to 'Ugoslavia' and the unequivical blank stare and dumbfounded expression, but you will likely find 'United States of America' to be on the list of rare replies!
