Supercharged, you will need a computer with a parallel port built in to the motherboard in order to connect a JB-99 to a computer. No other way will work with the JB Manager program. I do know that you CANNOT get a parallel port card to communicate with the JB-99. Looks like you will be stuck connecting it to your wife's or your kid's computer.

Hi Supercharged, I too feel that you probably have a JB99...because I have one that I use for my home entertainment system. Talk about difficult to loads song ......boy oh boy oh boy! You have to use the parallel cable as discussed or use the IDE method by removing the hard drive from the JB99 (not a big deal) and installing it on another compatible computer on the the primary side of the IDE 2 connector. From there it gets worse and the song numbering format requires lots of time or the songs will not display properly. The song file will be located within the folder of that songs reside in, because that is how the hard drive indexes the file. It uses a Dr dos format system and the files are not visible with Microsoft operating systems, so don't try to look at them that way.. I converted 1000 cd's (15,000) songs into mcg+mp3 format and loaded them into the JB99 and it took nearly a year to complete the task because of all the errors I encountered along the way. Never again!!!
Good Luck

I have never updated it, however the guy I bought it from got updates for it from whatever place he bought the unit from. they came on a disk that he would put in the unit. sounds like a mess to me. I just hope I can get to the file. the books I have were printed by the place he got it from also.
