My mama always told me that if you don't want someone to get your goat then don't tell them where you tie it up at. That sage advice has served me well. Like you if I find someone particular annoying or offensive I just ignore them. I certainly don't stick my finger in their eye or otherwise goad or bait them and I'm certainly not suggesting this was done in this case but.... and I most certainly don't pull or tug on Superman's cape. I subscribe to the philosophy that life is too short to be letting others manipulate my feelings.

OK If I cant post no more sexual-oriented adds then I am gone. You teenyboppers with your immature rules can shove it I am bowing out as a gentleman and a man as if there is anybody here that knows what either one is. CYA you can still come to my show in Greeley..

Add another to the list of those sad to see you leave Swirl. It really is a shame when opinions, and I stress OPINIONS, can't be expressed without others summarily saying you're wrong. Webster's definition:

o·pin·ion [uh-pin-yuhn] –noun a personal view, attitude, or appraisal

While I may not like a person's stance or opinion, it is their right to feel that way even though I don't agree.

So what's with this guy's attitude? It it a sense of humour that's just not translating well onto the web?

Karyoker / swirl. If you are gonna go - probably best to just let this go and not retaliate towards each other. You're both talking about "age" in one way or another, and yet squabling like kids.

As I say, maybe it's intended as humour or playfulness, but the web never helps convey such things.

As for opinions, they are like a$$holes - everyone has one. Respect your own, but respect others. Nobody is ever 100% right!

Yeah, you're right, nlouch. I'm feeding this by continuing it. I'm backing off now. For good this time. I've gotten a fair bit of mail via PM, so those of you that contacted me, I'll stay in touch.

What a frickin shame! I too Swirl will hate to see you go, apparently the rules of engagement on this forum don't apply to everyone. Granted, I have written some things that may have warranted a warning or whatever disciplinary action they would have handed out, and I promise I would have taken it without a word. A little name calling or a snide remark here and there, but never physical threats or vulgarities.
( at least as nouns )

There are a few bullies around here and some who think it's cute to be that way. The funny thing is being a bully really shows me one thing.........cowardice. It's so easy to lash out whether it be with fists or forum writing, it is so much harder to show some empathy and understanding. It's amazing how peoples personalities come out even on forums, Swirl was a level headed poster who only lashed out when cornered like anyone would do.

Whether you have fought for your country ( and I really do appreciate that ) or shown your patriotism in whatever way, you do deserve respect. Somehow that has been misconstrued into a "I can write whatever I want mentality". I am tired of the "young whippersnapper" card, the "newbie" card, the "I've been doing this for 4000 years" card. I've seen them all played here. Some tech discussions can be black and white, but a majority of opinions on other subjects here are just that, opinions.

This is definitely not about thick skin, this is about civility and sharing info, ideas and YES, opinions without being combative. There will always be disagreements, but when they escalate to threats and ramblings it is time to stop them. I have gotten some great info from this forum and I hate to see it going the direction it is going in as far as the tolerance level. Can't we just all get along.......a little better? Hope you come back Swirl, rant over, Rudy.
