Other considerations:
1) I don't intentionally take time out to determine what is the best version of each song in my library. Circumstances, however, will often bring a bad version to my attention. When that happens, I review every version in my library to determine if I have a better, preferably an exceedingly good, version. If I do, the better version is noted as the "best version" in my database file. If there is no "better" version, I will consider purchasing another version.
Exceedingly bad versions are deleted from the hosting software's data base (not the zip files), regardless if I have a better version, or not.
2) Earlier this evening I was in FYE. They don't carry much in the way of karaoke discs any longer and that's not why I had gone in. However, when I am in any music store I will check out what they have for karaoke. They had a SDK Jessica Simpson disc closed out for $0.94 There are eight tracks contained on the disc. I knew I didn't have at least one of the tracks. So, if that one track I didn't have is acceptable to me, you could say that I paid $0.94 for it.
Consider, furthermore, before I add the "fourth" or "fifth" version of a track to my library, I will compare the existing tracks to the new ones, one by one. If I find that the new tracks are superior to the old, they will be incorporated in my library and noted as "best version"! If they're not any better I don't bother adding them.
