I would love to see these songs released.
Bizarre inc-Im Gonna Get You
Janet Kay-Silly Games
Kate Bush-Moving
Gwen McCrae -All This Love Im Giving
Alannah Myles-ANYTHING besides 'black @#$%^ing velvet!'
Rozealla-everybodys free(there is one version available but it has a really poorly paced backing vocal ruining it)
good remixes of club cuts in general
Heart-Mistrel Wind
a GOOD version of Joyce Sims-All and All(one version exists, but its not really singable)

Tom,
First, a warm welcome to KS forum.
Nice to see talented musician being interested in Karaoke, esp in making of karaoke tracks for older songs from the 60s/70s.

Of course I have to convince the powers that be at the company that it's a worthwhile mission. The usual response is, "They don't sell."
Also, some of the older tracks of songs that HAVE been done were done a long time ago and they don't sound very good. I'm also trying to get them to let me do new, better versions of things like Beatles, etc, but again, the response is usually..."Well, they sell OK, why redo them?" My answer is because a lot of the parts are wrong, the audio quality is not so great, etc. It's a tough call to get anyone to do anything that isn't in the Top 40.
You guys can help a lot by writing and letting the companies know this is what you would like to hear.
Thanks for the warm welcome!

Man I would love me some more Alice in Chains and Stone Temple pilots.
AIC's
Over now ( mostly Cantrell singing so pretty easy to do range wise )
Nutshell ( one of my favorite songs by them )
It aint like that ( wicked crunch on the guitar )
Down in a hole ( only if the back up vocals are decent )
STP's
Too many to list!
One song from the 80's that I wish I could have would be Echo and the Bunnymen's " Lips like sugar " which think was a way better song than the one that is available from them on karaoke. My guilty pleasure karaoke request would be something from Dream Theater. Rudy.

Again, here's the deal.
If you guys want any of this stuff done, the problem is that none of the karaoke distributors are getting any requests for this material. So when I go to suggest doing it, the answer is usually..."Well, no one is asking for it." So it is up to you guys to email the heck out of every karoke distributor on the net, and tell them you want more 60s and 70s hits. Send the song lists. Whatever. As soon as they see that someone may actually go out and buy this material, you can bet it will be done.
Some of the songs mentioned in the wish lists on SC forum are already out there. They are terrible, but they are out there. So that is another thing to say in your emails. The available versions of such and such title sound amateurish and you won't buy those.
Thanks
Tom

I wish someone would put out some of the great tunes on George Strait's alblums that have never made it to karaoke. They dont get sung because there are no tracks! Anything by Strait will sell in Texas and I am pretty sure anywhere in the south. Definitely anywhere country music is performed. An example would be Strait's latest album "Troubadour." The song troubadour was released as was I saw God today, but that album is full of incredible country tunes that should be released for the public to sing. Songs like It Was Me and others on that disc are great country tunes that guaranteed in country venues, would get tons of play time. I realize that there are many more places that play very little country that there are those that do, but there is still a real call for GOOD country music not the pop country so many hear today. I have never met anyone who liked country music that did not like Strait's tunes. I have put in my requests at Chartbuster, I have not been able to request anything at SC and I dont understand why! --Mike

My suggestion is to *not* do yet more hits from yesterday unless they were done by either 1) a mega-artist with lots of other mainstream hits or 2) are a true cult classic. Those are very hard to find.
Wasting your time on past artists that have only AOR rock hits and no chart hits is going to get you fired. Sales simply won't be enough. Much as I love Steely Dan and would love to see "Bad Sneakers" and "Any Major Dude" be done decently, I couldn't tell you that they would sell. Yet at least they had a few top-ten chart hits. Some of the bands being suggested never saw a top-ten in their careers.
It is possible that an extremely well-selected set of 15 hits for genre release might sell if promoted well. But selection is everything, and if it has too many weak sisters I doubt it would fly. Better choice of target in my opinion is the lesser hits of today that are not being done by the majors. One idea is a combination current hist -- past hits disk. Say you combine 8 current lesser hits with 7 tracks from yesteryear in the same genre.
I don't really know much, but I do know that if you want to make money from a niche you have to *dominate* your niche. So get known for something, and then do enough to be *the* source for that.

There is a karaoke version of this, I have it on a custom disc. Can't remember if the manufacturer is SBI or Sing to the World, but it's definitely one of the two.

I haven't looked for it, but there's no karaoke version of "House Of Blue Lights?" I'm surprised. Of all the oldies suggested so far, that's the omission that has stuck out the most to me. Heck in the right situation I'd sing it. Always liked that one.
Mentioned by me in the other thread... "Lean Like A Cholo" - Down AKA Kilo - is often requested from the guys up from SoCal and I could sure use it.
I've only found one version of "Learning To Fly" - Tom Petty - and it's not very good. As far as I know it hasn't been done by the majors and if you wanted to come up with a more accurate version I think quite a few KJs would pick it up. I would anyway.

Some Lindsey Buckingham songs that aren't available from the 80's... I've always felt this was an oversight!
"Slow Dancing"
"Go Insane"
"Trouble" (although I THINK Sunfly just released this!)
Laura didn't rise to the bait... so I'll add my voice of the Alan Parsons Project songs that would be awesome to have available on karaoke.
"Damned If I Do"
"Old & Wise"
"Days Are Numbers (The Traveller)"
and just about the whole Albulm of "Turn Of A Friendly Card" would be intense! !
Also John Denver's "The Eagle & The Hawk" would be good. I heard a homemade version of it, and it's just awful.
pLanet P's "Why Me" is one I've heard over the years bemoaning not being available.

Learning to Fly is onl;y available on Sunfly as far as I know. I just bought it on a custom as I had several requests for it.
I see it's also on Chartbuster. The SF version sound pretty decent though.

I'll check to see if it's the Sunfly version I have, but I think that's it. I wasn't aware of the CB version... thanks Lonnie.
Although it's not much to sing, it's still one of my favorite Tom Petty songs and because of that I have sung it a few times. And there have been others in my room also.

Well it WAS on Chartbuster, looks to be discontinued as no one - including CB list it anymore.
