Well the large population is getting hard to deal with and as to the wages....not good. After reading some of the others posts on nightly fees I feel that we are at the low end of the bracket. Most KJ's that I have talked to here get $150 to $200 per per 4 hour show, and unless I am reading wrong others have posted that they get this much and more per hour.

Also travel is a problem my closest gig to home is 17 miles one way and the farthest is 25. That might not seem like much but when you are trying to get home safe at 2 in the morning along with 1/2 a million drunks on the road it can be hazardous to you health.

L.W.

Halifax Regional Municipality (try saying that three times lol), has a population of 375,000, with about 283,000 iwithin a radius of 25km (15 mi) of the urban core. There are many bars/clubs (esp in the core) with a number of gay/alternative bars and karaoke can be found every night of the week. A few really good, some mediocre, and some really bad ones. We probably have the most diverse dining option of anywhere from European to Middle Eastern, Indian, Thai etc in various price ranges. We're also home to about seven universities and collages, plus private business schools, and home of the East Coast Navy.

I do mostly private parties now days, but they are typically in Seattle. Population is around 600,000 in the city alone, over 2 million if you want to go to the outlying areas that claim Seattle as their residence.

I do private parties and sub in for my friend occasionally. Let's see, where I live is about 1 million. With surrounding area, let's say about 20 mile radius, probably about 1.7 million.

I live in San Jose, CA.

I do 4 bars in the Denver metro area - population around 2.7 million. Karaoke is everywhere. Good karaoke is not.

Two of my venues have max occupancy of about 200, and the other two around 125.

I work one bar in the city of St. Louis MO. I have no clue what the population is. However I know a lot of my followers come from St. Louis county, so that would be alot. I work Thurs. and Sat. at the same place and occupancy is right at 200. Most nights we come close to that, so we have a really good turn out most nights.

Jayvan, just a quick note I used to live in Jackson TN. Nice area around where you are. I enjoyed myself there before moving back to my home area.

My Fri night gig for the last year is in a very small jerkwater town, old logging town, with maybe 1000 people in it, but surrounding area (10 miles or so) with a pretty large population. Monday night gig is in the middle of a VERY large population area.

I am in Raleigh, part of North Carolina's Triangle region (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill), where the population is expanding faster than I can type this post.
We have a bajillion bars and taverns serving yuppies, college students, country rednecks and ethnic customers, and probably dozens of karaoke outfits.
I am a one-man show, so I am limited (by choice) to five nights a week at three different bars. I am off on Mondays (when I run a weekly Golden Tee golf tournament) and Tuesdays (when I sleep and try to get reacquainted with my wife).
