The Vocopro's I am recommending are VHF, so they will not be effected by the changes next year.
As a VHF unit, their lack of more than one channel might be a problem near any airport. However, although I was warned of such a possibility, I have never encountered anyone who has had a problem near any airport.

The only problem I ever had was in a venue with more than one function room, and my mic signal were picked up by another Dj's equipment...strangely I didn't recieve his signal...

I have to second the recommendation of the cheapo Nady Duos. I am good friends with a few KJs and these things get the job done night after night. Gotta keep an eye on the batteries (reception not great when batteries are low) but they really sound quite decent, especially given the price. Only downside is that they are kinda light and cheap feeling (you get what you pay for).

We have the cheap Nady DKW- dou, also, (not the Star Power which seem to have more issues) and they have been holding up under bar use. We offer a better quality corded mic to the serious singers but so far no one has asked to use it.
The battery issue is something to consider, however. You get about 10 hours tops and 9 volt batteries are about the most expensive to replace out there. So when we upgrade, we will probably consider something else. (you can get a two pack of 9 volts at Dollar-type stores but that is still a big contribution to the toxic waste stream. Maybe someone out there can comment on some rechargeable options.)

You're absolute correct and I've already mentioned the possibility of conflict with other nearby, VHF, Vocopro units. Those who are familiar with this possibility have provided for such circumstances.
Has anyone ever exprienced a frequency conflict with other brands of wireless, VHF mics?

The answer to your questions is YES ! You can get a "decent set" for home use.
Look at NADY and or GEM SOUND dual systems for under $100.
I've used both sets in a working enmviroment without any working problems.
SOUND wise they are more than DECENT. In a home enviroment you shouldn't have to worry about long distances and other frequencies interfering.
Or drunks throwing or dropping them .....
Try the CHEAP stuff ..you may be surprised. If you don't like them RETURN them
The good thing about many satisfaction type policies. I can't see spending $200 when a $60 set MAY be what you like.

My wife though I needed a wireless mic & got me a $120 UX-16 Gemini wireless UHF mic, this thing is the biggest piece of crap I have ever heard - VERY sibilant (s's come through hard) & no low end at all. Cheap SUCKED in this case!
Sad thing if she would've have asked me, I would've been able to tell her where to purchase it, we tried to return it but would have have to pay shipping & 20% restocking fee which came out to almost half of what she paid, not worth it so I gave it to my 8 year old daughter to play with. Wasn't good for anything else.

I had a similiar set from GEMINI and did not like that one either.
But I did get 2 sets from GEM SOUND and although the mics and receiver unit were indeed PLASTICKY they did not sound like a $49 wireless mic. I was quite surprised and also had similiar sucess with the last Nady unit I purchased.
If I were hosting a one man singing show would I use these.....probably not
I would opt for the more expensive Shure or similiar. But for HOME use with a budget of $100-$150. The NADY is a decent buy.

Nady DKW Duo, $50 and more than worth the price.
Been using mine for around a year with ZERO problems. Comes with a base and two microphones. For home use I don't believe there is any better product in that price range. Uses a 9 volt battery for each microphone handset and they last easily more than 10 hours.

"sibilant": Love the word and how it was used!
Micky, the OP was looking to pay between $100-150. Your choice will run well over $200 with shipping (taxes?). So, the OP is back to receiving suggestions beyond the stated price range for home use.
BTW, has the OP made a decision as of yet? Maybe we can just close the thread?

Y'know, when you use a piece of gear over and over and over with great results, you stop worrying about what brand it is or how much it costs. I sing professionally, I get paid to sing. I used that mic New Year's Eve in front of paying customers. I wasn't embarrassed or ashamed. No one asked me what kind of microphone I was using. The Nady DKW Duo is like the Energizer Bunny, it keeps working and working and working . . .

People have a lot of fun with ours, also and I have ceased to feel guilty about it as we offer the good corded mic to any one who wants to use it. So a serious singer can have a mic equal to their talents if they so desire and the recreational singer can go sit on a bar stool and "croon" to his girl friend with the Nady and we don't have to worry about paying out $400 if he drops it. For home use, they would be fine. From an environmental standpoint, however, I would love to find a "rechargeable" alternative.

You can buy rechargeable 9 volt batteries and a charger on ebay. Much less expensive than what you can buy in a store. Do a search on ebay for rechargeable 9 volt. I'm getting myself a couple. I just haven't gotten around to it. With my Samson 5 H wireless I need the rechargeable 9 volt batteries. They use a battery MUCH faster than the Nady. The Samson is a good mic, more sensitive than the Nady, but they eat batteries. I got a couple sets on ebay for $35 each. Retail is $99.

Rechargeable 9 volts are an iffy proposition. Not only do they not actually put out true voltage, but many of them are slightly larger than normal 9 volt batteries, and wont fit in some mics (Sennheiser Freeport, for example). They also may not last for more than a couple of hours. Mics that use AA batteries don't have any of these issues. That's why many manufacturers do not recommend rechargeables in their 9v powered mics. If I'm not mistaken, I think Shure has some info about this on their site.
I'm not suggesting that it can't be done, but if you're looking to go the rechargeable route, AA is a much better bet.

I am trying out this wireless system right now:
http://www.audio2000s.com/products/wire ... 6547du.htm
My singers like them and I get no issues with them at all. The place I run them in has a lot of noise; so much I can't connect to the wireless network with a good wireless card. However these are nice clear and clean. I gotta admit being very skeptical when my buddy brought them in for me to use but I am thinking I'll pickup a set of my own, $300 or so.
Anyone have a bad experience with the Audio2000's brand?

pretty much stuck on AKG wireless mics. they have a great sound, terrific at noise cancelling, built like a tank and....
(wait for it)
.....
They use AA batteries with a 35 HOUR battery life. (no kidding...)
The newer ones use a SINGLE AA battery and have the same life.
Been using them for 7 years and during that time, I've only had 1 go dead....
Although you wouldn't expect it, the range you can get with these are pretty outstanding... I'd rate these right up next to any SM-58 corded mic any day, they're THAT good.
One word of caution however:
AKG sells these mics with only 4 or so frequencies.... check ahead to see which frequency will NOT be messed with by a high-powered DIGITAL television station. If you're 20-30 miles away from any station, you won't have any problems.
I had to switch frequencies when I found out that the ones they sent were too close to our television stations.
