Thank you all for the kind words and for taking the time to reply with advice. I really don't deserve any of the credit... it is only through God that I have been given the courage and renewed strength. I have heard people say that being a disciple for Christ is the biggest form of rebellion in today's society. I think there is a lot to that. I have a mohawk and I get some stares and weird looks... but you should see how uncomforable people get when I tell them how Christ has moved in my life. People who speak openly about their faith are looked at as "weird". It makes people squirm a little bit. I never force my views on anybody. Normally people will ask me how I have been doing... or how my relationship with my wife got to be so good.....
I simply tell people the good things that God has done for me at any opportunity I get. There are many people who claim to be Christians but never speak to anybody about their faith or about Jesus... and who tailor the laws of God/Christianity to fit in their worldly lives. I was one of those people. People like to say we are a Christian society... while we may have been founded on those principles 200 years ago, those days are long gone. If you look at the mainstream music, the fashion, TV shows, commercials...etc is plain to see we are not.

Thank you for the info about Christian karaoke as well. I have been asked to get involved with the teen group at Church and this could be a cool thing to bring into the mix. :D

AND we still get a little something ya know?

Your decision is very noble my friend after all when youre talking about forever you dont wanna be stuck at a karaoke bar singing do ya ?! Me neither ! :) Good Luck in all that you do !

That was really sub-par behavior from any adult... especially someone your age.
If it really made you feel better about yourself to throw that out there... I think your life must be pretty empty.

Apologize, ..sorry you took offense

Thank you very much. :) I also have enough gear left that I am leasing a system to my replacement (a friend of mine) until he can afford his own gear and to make sure the bar owners (a nice family who we are also friends with) can keep from losing their livelihood. So I do make a fair bit of money that way as well... God will provide. I'm not worried. :)

I definitely don't want to spend my forever in a karaoke bar :!: .... Which is why I am investing in his kingdom and not on my short life here. :!:

Thanks again for the kind words! Good luck to you as well and God Bless!

USUALLY, I would prefer to stay out of a religious conversation, but I felt that it was necessary to add my .02 in here. Before you (djfrank), and Kelley, start looking for your halos, and wings, and sending ALL of the REST OF US TO KARAOKE HELL, you might think about what you're STILL doing. Djfrank, you're leasing your equipment to a FRIEND, so HE can be damned for all time, as long as you get THE MONEY. Kelley, you're also doing the same, by hiring SOMEONE ELSE to go use your equipment to do the DEVIL'S work. You're not SAVED, just because you're not there. You're STILL taking MONEY from the devils work. I know this post will not be popular, but I think that before you think you're RIGHTEOUS in the eyes of the LORD, you maybe shouldn't JUDGE OTHERS LEST YOU BE JUDGED.

No matter what I do I know I am not saved because I am not there in the bar singing and contributing directly to what goes on.

I am saved because I have accepted Jesus Christ as my God and Savior and put my heart and soul into his hands

Nothing can change that. The only way that would/could change is if I denied him which will never happen. No matter what sins I commit... God will take me back with joy and open arms. I wish you could all have that peace yourself because it is really amazing.

I was wondering when this post would happen. I feel like this is a personal attack and that you are very anti-christian. When did I judge anybody? I never judged any of you or anybody for doing what you/they do. I said it was not right for me. Not only am I leasing my equipment to my friend, he is taking my place at this bar which is has been family owned for over 30 years by good friends of mine. They are supporting their extended family with this establishment. They do a lot of good for the community as well. I never said anybody would be damned for any of it. There are tons of people who are saved who are still going down the wrong road...God is forgiving and loving. I don't have any problem with bars and drinking, etc. To each their own. As I said, it isn't right for ME and my beliefs.
I am providing him with an amp and speakers, etc. He is making the decisions on how the show is run and what music is played. I'm not. If I own a shoe store and sell 6" clear acrylic healed boots to a stripper in town, am I promoting what she does with them? I don't believe I would be...Do I think he is a bad person for playing songs that are nasty? No... He is a good friend of mine and I know he is a good guy with a good heart. The point is ... when you are the host of a show designed to make money for your bar owner, you have to smile in people's faces and keep the party going even when you are cringing on the inside. I am no longer willing to do that. I have used my last couple of months here to really try to help people, pray with/for people and minister to people. Karaoke is a big party... but behind the scenes there is a lot of pain and misery going on in people's lives. Most "regulars" who get to a point where they are in the bar every day and drinking like crazy are doing so because they have a void that they are trying to fill.

I would like to conclude by saying that bars and people who work in them and patronize them are not evil. There is nothing wrong with drinking in moderation. Jesus and his disciples drank plenty of wine. The problem comes when people destroy themselves by drinking themselves to death everyday, they lose their inhabitions and morals which is when Satan strikes... when the defenses are down. When people get so drunk that they do things they would never do sober. (like taking off their clothes, or going out to the parking lot and cheating on their wife or husband) I know I am a sinner. I know I have weaknesses... It is better for me to limit my involvement to avoid falling prey to my flaws. Satan is very crafty... He knows when and where to strike. I thank God that he is helping me recognize these times and places so I can rejoice and thank him while I rebuke the enemy.

I'm not anti-christian, but I am anti-hipocrite. As far as you're concerned, the people that are living the "bar life", are sinners, but YOU as a CHRISTIAN are still willing to take their MONEY. And also, you're not selling shoes to a stripper that MIGHT wear them to strip, you're LEASING "YOUR" equipment to a friend KNOWING that he is going to use it in a bar. So BASICALLY, it's ok to take the MONEY, as long as it's done in the LORD'S name. I've heard this story TOO MANY TIMES. Have a nice life!!

I love it when people devote their lives to some fairy tale that they've been brainwashed into believing. I don't need an excuse or some fairy tale to get me to behave a certain way. I try to treat people honestly because that is how I like to be treated...not because I want to go to some fluffy place in the clouds when I die.

Hey Zeus = Jesus ....Why would a REAL GOD, if there was one......get us all to believe in different religions so some groups would spend eternity trying to annihilate some other groups over their respective beliefs? I think "GOD" could have come up with a better plan than the one we're living with now. It sure would be a much nicer world if everyone believed in the same lie. There would have been quite a few less wars over history if not for "non-believers"

You would be much more convincing if you could spell the words that you are calling people. 8) Perhaps you did not fully read my posts...? Or perhaps your reading comprehension is not at the level that it should be...? Or maybe your negativity and strong desire to find fault in others(perhaps due to your own unfullfilled life?) is keeping you from listening to me? I never called anybody a sinner aside from myself in any of my posts. I am leasing my equipment to a friend so he can better his income and so that the bar owners of 30 + years who are also good friends of mine can continue to support their extended family. I'm not leasing my equipment "in the Lord's name". I am doing what I feel is best for me and my personal faith journey. I pray that you may someday find the way to accept others without judging - as you are accusing me of.

While it is great that you "treat people honestly", that alone does not make you an individual of good, strong character. Would Hitler be excused from the concentration camp murders if he would have been honest with the Jews and said "I'm putting you in this room to kill you" rather than "time for a shower"? I don't think so. I never said anybody needed to be a Christian to be a good person. Y'all are starting disagreements over nothing. There are MANY non-Christian people in this world, both past and present who are outstanding members of the human race. People who care for others, who are tolerant of others, who are genuinely kind to people because they know it is the right thing to do.

In my opinion, (which I am sure you will leave rather than take...) you lack character because you chose to come into this thread and mock me for my beliefs.
I never did or said anything off-color to you or anybody.

I person with strong character would have read the post and clicked out of it. Or maybe even just said... "I disagree, but to each their own" and went on their merry way.

I have not been brainwashed, nor have I bought into a fairy tale. In fact I have made a choice to believe... after a lot of trials and struggling... and doubt and questioning everything I know. It is not my job to question God's plan or design.

Hitler BELIEVED in something also. Just because YOU believe in something, doesn't make it right or real; regardless of whether your name is Frank or Adolph. If your faith helps you get through the day, I'm HONESTLY happy for you. I just find it funny how people can ignore what science has proven as fact i.e. Dinosaurs that were here millions of years before Man etc. The two biggest lies in christianity are Santa and the Easter Bunny. They start the brain washing very early on.

Why are you so worried about what everybody else believes?
At least when Christians try to convert others they are doing it to glorify God.
Who are you working for? You are obviously putting some effort forth to reply to messages of no concern to you on a message board...

I'm sure what I've already forgotten, you still have yet to learn, so as far as your SCHOOLYARD putdowns are concerned, I'm not impressed. YOU'RE the person that said that you couldn't live in the life of a karaoke bar. With the kind of people that are there CHEATING on their wives, or husbands, in the parking lot, etc. Well, I'm just here to tell you that maybe that was YOUR way of life, and not all of the OTHER people in the place. Maybe THEY'RE the ones that are better off that YOU aren't coming there anymore. And as far as YOU being the GREAT person you are for being so kind to LEASE your equipment to SAVE the bar owners, and their whole family, PLEASE SPARE ME THE SOB STORY. If you were so concerned, you wouldn't charge them for the use of your equipment. You're in it for the MONEY, plain and simple. God bless you, and have a nice life.

I thank God that he is helping me recognize these times and places so I can rejoice and thank him while I rebuke the enemy.

djfrank I wouldnt have even explained myself to this (@$%&#!) ! Obviously took major offense to things that werent meant to be offensive So what, ! let him/her work out their own eternity is what I say ! Neither one of us meant anything offensive in our posts.
