When I blew my $1000 home stereo speakers, I was using compression. Ya I think limiter a good idea. Hopefully can figure out the real limits of a set of speakers and get the right settings and still sound ok :)

You could definitely use home stereo speakers for karaoke. Mine lasted 3 months.
I guess if you can keep getting replacements from Goodwill, that are not already blown, you can keep it going :)

Did you do it even though people here told you not to? 8-)

Well it was a couple of years ago and I wish I checked forums first. People kept warning me, though, but I wouldn't listen cause I had already spend good money on a "good" home stereo system. And I thought I could make it sound as good anything out there. Now I know the hard way. All who want to join the mchin99 stubborn idiot's club, please sign here...

I'll tell ya what's funny.

I never had a home system (well, not since I was in the military two centuries ago)... so when it came to foiling the home system, I never had to worry.

I used my backup karaoke system as my home system! LOL!

Now my wife's best friend continues to use her home system... everytime we come over we do karaoke with mics on her RSQ222 player... I just cringe.

Audio is through her home stereo. She hasn't had any serious vocalists on there other than me, and I told Ruthie NOT to even come close to using her full voice, which hers isn't a problem anyway.

But my heart goes out to those newbies that wonder why they had to get new speakers, or find out they need them!

Hi Tats,
I use HT speakers for my home system with no problems what so ever. I have a total of (12) Bose cubes in arrays of (2), with (2) Bose subs (non-powered). I have (4) right front, (4) left front, (2) right rear and (2) left rear. The subs are at oppisite sides of the room. My Room size is about 16' by 28' with 12' ceilings. My cubes are placed high (10' or so)and aimed slightly downward and inward. I will have to say that I can crank up my system as loud as you can stand it and it will easily handle vocals. The Bose cubes are what are inside the Bose L1 units. I have been using the same cubes for almost (5) years and have not had to replace a single one. I love the sound because Bose speakers do a very good job of producing crystal clear vocals.
