If the bar were completely empty, and the KJ had every single song in his book, handed you the mic, and stepped out for a smoke, what would you sing?

Give this post the grand prize! This is what karaoke is all about. What do you sing in the shower? What do you sing in the car? How would you answer the question above?

THOSE are the songs you should sing at karaoke- the ones that make YOU feel good!

Karaoke is The Singer's Choice, not the audience's. If you you do WHATEVER you do well, they'll love it! If it's a good crowd, they'll give you kudos for trying even if it's so-so.

Just go, sing, and enjoy.

PS: Really, I'm almost certain a host with digital keychange is running a show near you....

Except for one thing, Joe -- when you're the host, you're expected to choose upbeat-current energetic songs. You don't always get to pick the stuff that gets you off at home. I don't sing often when I host, but when I do, it's either to start the night, or to get the night back on track if the bar loses energy.

Ah well...there's still the shower.

I must have missed something Bird- I never read anything that said that you were HOSTING, and was under the impression that you were going out to sing.

If you are hosting, no one can tell you what will go over in YOUR venues- only YOU know what's popular there.

One of the strangest ....... She's in a "hick" town but country is out. Ok! Then why ask us?

Meanwhile, I can't imagine too many towns where country is "out" unless there is just one venue in town and only punkers go there!

Oh BTW, which way did she go? Or, in other words, where's the OP?

You're right...I didn't mention it. Unfortunately, I hardly ever get out to anyone else's show, but I should probably try more often. I do agree that the crowd enjoys you more if you're really into what you're doing, but you really do have different parameters when you're hosting.

Exactly my thoughts. She threw a fit that there were no replies after just a few hours of her OP and hasn't been back for three days.
