hmm.....
obviously Eminem HAS talent and has made millions more than any of us here.
He can rap and rhyme faster than anybody and writes all of his hits, but he does biatch about his personal problems with his mom and ex-wife too much. He could do well without having to insult or use profanity. But he's young and started young.
my room entertains an Eminem song about once a week. Military loves him and Kid Rock also. The really offensive songs of theirs have been pulled long ago.
To remove outstanding "clean" artists out of your book is RISKY. If i didn't like an artist, i wouldn't prevent others from singing them, even if they did a lousy job at impersonating them. It IS after all.....karaoke.

IMHO,
Does the guy have talent = YES
Do I like him = YES
Do I sing some of his songs = YES
Does he go too far sometimes = YES
Do I care = NO
What else can you say, it is what it is and IT DOES SELL RECORDS and that is all that matters............The all important bottom line!

Wrong! He steals riffs and music from others. He hasn't had an original musical idea yet. What he DOES have is a minor a talent for mixing two completely different songs together.....or maybe that's his record producer's ideas......Seems to run right up a producer's alley.

Unfortunately, 23. I never bothered to weed them out when I ripped the discs. I should have oh, well. I don't get much call for it anyway, thankfully. Maybe once or twice in the last year (still too much IMO ).

We have 25. Now for a confession. I do like "Stan". It actually has a story to it that is very believable, unfortunately.

I have 14. I think only 6 have ever been done though, with the three I mentioned earlier by far the most. The bottom three seldom: 8 Mile, Shake That (was done a lot when current though), Superman.

Did i say he writes the music? NO!
Does he write the lyrics? YES!!
OBVIOUSLY you misinformed individual, EVERYBODY seems to know he did (as stated in HIS lyrics in HIS songs_, he STOLE black music (RIFFS, MELODIES) but obviously RAP MUSIC wasn't around back then, SO HE DIDN"T STEAL THE WORDS!
Duh, Elvis Presley did the same same thing as well as countless others.
DID PMS just GET MET with PMS??? You've been a real *%#$ lately in your posts!!
Apologies to others, but "D" has a severe case of.....whatever it is. Lose the chip!

Wow!
I don't know what you're on, but if it's nothing, then I suggest you see your doctor and get on something tout de suite! You obviously have an anger management problem that needs to be dealt with. I see no need for name calling, even if it's only in *^@%$ . If you don't like my posts, then don't read them. Real simple.
I have no chip, but it's apparent that you do. I have every right to disagree with you and tell you you're wrong if that's what I happen to think. It's a little something called "free speech". Ever heard of it? Get over yourself and go see your doc.
When you said he writes all of his songs, I took the definition of song as lyrics AND music, not just lyrics, otherwise it's just a poem. And I never once said he stole the lyrics, just the riffs and music. As for Elvis et al, at least they had the cleverness and good taste to disguise what they stole not blatantly steal it unchanged (and un- re-recoded) and claim it as their own.
Perhaps you should have said "lyrics" rather than "song" to avoid confusion.

Now now children, let's calm down.
Most rappers evolved from them starting out as dj's & sampling riffs to rap over. Rappers Delight in the late 70's was probably one of the first officially commercial 'rap' songs ever made using Chic - Good Times music as the foundation. It's the lyrical content - like or leave it - is what makes the rapper what they are, not necessarily the music.

25...what the heck!
MrD only has 19, have to find out the ones I don't have and get em
On a side note, since when do you have to write the music to be original? If that was the case, then 95% of the music people out there....would be considered crap! Heck most of them don't write their own lyrics even, so he's well above the majority of the crowd...just in that aspect. I know this he can rap more original than most of the current artists out there and his stuff is all created in the studio. Compare him to the other rappers on the charts, have them rap again each other. Nothing wrong with sudio created music, just don't try to do it live if you are fake.

Alright MrD, Jay, Timberlea, Gemini, and others with over 18 Eminem raps in your catalog - which ones are actually done? Are there favorites in your rooms? I put mine up. Lets see 'em.
edit: Oh yeah. I can't believe that Diafel, someone who hates Eminem, would have 23 of them!

As you well know, Bill, sometimes you buy a disc for one song and get "stuck" with the rest. In my case, I bought a lot of used stuff and ripped the whole lot. Wasn't really paying attention. I got "shafted" with all the Eminem.
As for what is actually done, I really can't say. Like I said earlier, it may have been done once or twice, but it's been so long I can't remember.

Ok Bill....I was merely stating how many I had just to follow suit. There is not much done, not many people can even fake a bad rendition of one of the songs. I would have to say that Without Me, Just Lose It, Superman, Lose Yourself (All done by MrD on occasion)...at private parties I've had more of them done, like Real Slim Shady, Stan, Way I Am. The rest I doubt have ever been touched....MrD

Rap is very hard to do. It is all about the timing. I have singers that are tone deaf, but can rap awesome. Rap has it's place in karaoke.

Doesn't Dr Dre produce Eminem's albums? Dre is the one to blame on stealing music. But on the other hand The Chronic is one of the most sold rap albums around. And many Nuthin But a G Thang is classic at the venues. And I would sing We Made You or Crack a Bottle on this new cd
And speaking of stealing riffs, Kid Rock's All Summer Long Ugh
If you have to go with white rappers, we need more Beastie Boys songs on karaoke. And for you Canadians out there howabout Swollen Members.
