Good luck with your move.
Do you know "Bob" from Canada?

Man it was Misery when I visited there last, about 110 daily. Cool thunder storms though that week.

I was in Calgary once years ago in May - would you believe it snowed in the middle of May? BRRRR!
I was born and raised on the west coast of Canada and got only as far as 60 miles south of the border (after a number of years in So. Cal). There is a difference in attitude most certainly, and yes, I find that Canadians are much more up not only on their own politics but those of this country as well. Kind of like American Idol - they can't vote but they sure know what's going on on the show.

Igloos? Idiots. Actually that's funny becauseI accused my wife of that when we first met! Funny though, when I introduce myself in Canada most think I said I live in Ottawa! I've only been to karaoke once in Canada (except for family get togethers I've done) and it was in Perth which is pretty close to Ottawa. The guy used CDGs, can't really judge his equipment as this was last summer before I became a little knowledgeable about pro equipment. First song I requested (Alice Cooper Only Women Bleed) he had to bail as the disk wouldn't play.
The point I am getting too is that the crowd was fantastic! Applauded after every song, all gave me kudos as I walked past and were very friendly. Not quite there in my hometown.

Depends on how many beers you've had. Here is the Molson Canadian Rant:
Hey, I'm not a lumberjack, or a fur trader....
I don't live in an igloo or eat blubber, or own a dogsled....
and I don't know Jimmy, Sally or Suzy from Canada,
although I'm certain they're really really nice.
I have a Prime Minister, not a president.
I speak English and French, not American.
And I pronounce it 'about', not 'a boot'.
I can proudly sew my country's flag on my backpack.
I believe in peace keeping, not policing,
diversity, not assimilation,
and that the beaver is a truly proud and noble animal.
A toque is a hat, a chesterfield is a couch,
and it is pronounced 'zed' not 'zee', 'zed' !!!!
Canada is the second largest landmass!
The first nation of hockey!
and the best part of North America
My name is Joe!!
And I am Canadian!!!

Ouch! That's true. Also applies to Seattle, btw.

Aw, Canadians aren't all that different. Think of them as unarmed Americans with health care.

Portland got a good smattering of some weather. Nine months of rain. 2 Weeks of Winter, and a small Spring. Fall lasted about a minute, and Summer... ahhhh! 70 degrees!!
