I've only had one person sing a Michael Jackson song since he died. It's odd really. I thought it would be all the buzz, but no one is even talking about it much. I think his negative publicity through the yrs has tainted his legacy. It's sad.

I think it will eventually the music/entertainer aspect will come back to over rule the negative. We have always had MJ songs sung regularly, but those people seem to be singing them a little more frequently than usual.

Well at karaoke last night lots of MJ got done in fact lots of MJ has always been done even before he died but it's been amped up a lot since he died.
For some people it's clear to see his music is all they really listened to, there has even been a couple of people who usually don't sing get up and do an MJ song as a joke, but nevertheless they still got up there and belted out a song - it's a start to them enjoying singing at least haha.
One chick got up last night and nailed "I'll Be There", that was cool.

I'd never sung a Michael jackson tune before...but at the show I did Sat after he died we got so many requests that I had to wing a few off the cuff..."Shake you body down to the ground""Rock with you" and "Thriller" all went over like gang busters! I asked around in the crowd and found a guy with a theatre background to do the vincent price voice...he got it almost DEAD ON! (pardon that er bad pun) but when he did it the crowd went CRAZY when he got to that part about "ROT inside a corpses shell" ! Shulda HEARd that laugh at the end! LOVED IT! We even had about half the crowd on the dance floor doing the Thriller dance!
I think Brook Shields and Usher got to me the most from the memorial...and also Paris.
I really hope that now that he is no longer here to do anything anyone can "diss"-approve of- That Michael Jackson can be remembered as the entertainer he was...not all the other "stuff"
Just to throw it in there...MJ always came across to me as rather innocent and childlike himself. Can;t imagine him actually hurting a child. But the people I have the BIGGEST problem with are the parents....especially the SECOND pair that had the child with cancer. After 93- if THEY let their kid stay with MJ and thought him guilty- then THEY were guilty of putting their child in harms way and are unfit parents...Personally I think they were gold digging ungrateful jerks! MJ took an interest in their child and helped him through CANCER and they repay him how? No Wait...he has to pay THEM 20 MILLION!....got news for them and parents like them. If "MY child" was molested...there would be NO money that could buy me off...nothing but prison time would be enough. I sure as HeL! wouldn't allow them to stay with anyone that I thought had the remotest chance of being a molester. (What parent would???) Their story doesn't ring true to me. JMO... I am amazed that MJ kept his naievete and positivity as long as he did. I think it would be hard to have your hand bitten off every time you offered it in kindness. it truly is a shame that someone wh basically dedicated his life to entertaining others, and humanitarian efforts should have their memory tarnished with accusations that proved to be false. yeah he ws a little "out there" with the surgery...but give him some grace. He was also OUT THERE with his creativity and talent. At least he was consistent in his excess. What's wrong with that- what;s wrong with being "different?" Look at the legacy of music he left us. I know that his CD's are the soundtrack that is behind my adolescence, HS and college memories. I will love him forever because of that.
I sincerely hope & pray you have at last found the peace you never had while here.

Isn't that the truth?? Such fond memories, and great music.
I for one agree with you. MJ never hurt a child... and I really believe he wasn't has "weird" as he was made out to be. It is obvious he has serious medical problems including lupus and skin disorders...
Just yesterday there was a gossip show showing video of his little boy all dressed up like a prince and acting like this was more of MJ's weird behavior... What??
Of course he dressed up his kids... parents always do that! ... and this guys rich, so it makes sense he goes all out with the costumes. My girls have a big costume box full of stuff, and I know when they were 2 I dressed them up in little princess outfits.
The media distorts and simply MAKES STUFF up its hard to tell what's real and what's not. We didn't know him personally, so we don't really know. But I believe his true heart was in his music, and MJ's heart would never hurt a child.

MJ has almost always been a karaoke staple... every show I go to I have a hard time not remembering SOME MJ song sang SOMEHOW, either his or a cover. ((I personally love Smooth Criminal by Alien Ant Farm, btw!))
My wife and I are polar opposites over MJ. I remember the positive, but she's too young to remember the media blitz that happened over The Eagles breaking up, the deaths of John Lennon and Elvis and how they were the talk of the airwaves for WEEKS. Granted they didn't have all the news channels that were greated JUST because of the overdone coverage on the OJ trial, and these programs always have to try to outdo each other in that respect. From the far left to the extreme right, the politics have always been polarizing.
I hated that rep from New York that was going on and on about the political correctness of the whole fiasco. I agree with some of his points, but you can sure tell he's 1.) no fan of MJ's music and how it singlehandedly affected our music history, 2.) a judgemental idiot who doesn't seem to realize that MJ was NOT convicted in any court (his ignorace of the law that he's a party to creating and practicing scares me), and 3.) a bigot. He's using MJ's publicity to further his own agenda.
Love him, hate him, pity him, no matter how you slice this loaf, there's been nobody like this in the course of our modern music history, and I for one mourn his passing.
