Ok thought it was just me... Iv been KJing for about a year now... with no training at all. but i have a hell of a time mixing from beheind stage......never throught about using the Head Phones.... guess i will give that a try at the next gig....

Interesting topic. I have never been to a show where any headphones were being used, but I had a customer come in tonight and ask me if I had headphones. To be honest, I couldn't figure why she was asking. I'm not a techie person

This wouldn't be for customer use, but more for the kj being able to hear the mix if they couldn't hear the main speakers clearly.
I don't think i've ever been to a show where headphones were provided for customers.

I didn't know... She said it was so she could hear the music better. No one else ever complains though. I did record a CD once, and I wore headphones to hear the music, but I had never thought about using them for karaoke for any reason.

I've been using my can for 15 of my 18 years. They are great for setting a base mix. You definitely have to get out front and listen though. After a few tunes I can get used to most rooms, then the cans are used all night. I still get out front though. The tweaks are very minor then.

The biggest reason my cans are on my head all night, is because my set ups require my singers to be almost right next to me. That can be painfully loud. Cans are great sound attenuators when turned OFF!!!

I have a small bit of tinitus, So for me, the cans are required.

Some singers really like singing with them too. I have one room that is ridiculously noisy (crowd + room acoustics), even with a floor monitor, it's loud. Makes it hard on the singers. The cans are very handy. I'd say 75% of people sound better when they sing with headphones.
