Thanks kb6bmw I have the V2Go 100Plus on order it's supposed to arrive next Wednesday. I have looked at others but didn't want to go with a proprietary software machines, likeCAVS SCDG, or RSQ Neo. BTW You are the first one to recommend it, and say it is fast loading. I checked on Guitar Center website and couldn't find it. I ordered it through Amazon. Tell me have you used the usb hard drive on the usb connection yet? Also did you notice I listed the V2Go 100Plus in my equipment list?
Do you have other equipment that you use to do Karaoke?
Thanks again for your reply.

I have the 777, here's how and why I use it. I use a laptop with a Native Instruments Audio 2 Pro (and I'm working with their Tracktor software for music). I need the whole system to have a very small foot print but (messed up shoulder), but since I DJ and play a bit of live music as well, I need a lot of options and back-ups as well, it all needs to be very compact.
Everything I have expect my Numark mixer is 1u space. Two 300 watt amps, the 777, a 6 channel pre amp mixer, a harmonizer and a 2 mic rechargeable (plus cabled mics as well), all fit in the small table top box. Couple this with a set of Peavey P15, and super lightweight speakers stands which crank to 80 inches and it's what I need to save my shoulder.
I use an external hard drive for the KJ and another for the DJ.
If the lap top goes down I use my 1500 song CD-G collection with the 777, which I have the catalogs printed out for as well. If anything but the amp(s) go bad, I always have some kind of an option to go on with the show.
In my opinion, having this CD-G disc option is a must for a lap top back up and more and more people are bringing in there own discs to the show anyway.
Whatever brand you choose, it's important to have a back up.
Lastly, these units will play off a Fat 32 hard drive but it ain't worth the hassle. if you already have the CD-G discs then you're all set with a back up plan anyway. If not, buy a good collection of discs for your back up.
