I picked up some "Thayers" lozenges (Slippery Elm) cherry flavor, at the Karaoke store in Las Vegas.

Seems to work..

Probably available all over.

There's a Karaoke store in Vegas??
I'm planning a trip to go there eventually....

I always have at least one bottle of sambuca on hand. I should try that!

I always find pineapple juice is far, far more effective than water - it coats and lubricates the vocal folds and will keep your voice going for longer and make it clearer. It's staying power is far greater too. Water - you sip, and 3 seconds later you're back to where you were.

That sounds good to me. Is pineapple juice a common mixer so that it would be available in most bars. I've been using Ricola honey lemon echinacea cough drops. They work well enough if I have one right before I sing on a rough night.

A friend of ours uses pickle juice. She can talk a waitress into getting here some most of the time.

well according to the experts one should steer clear of anything sugary.
If I feel a cold or anything lurking I bomb dose myself with echinacea and golden seal drops...I treble the suggested dosage and keep it up for 3 days...generally that puts paid to the cold and subsequent bad vocals.
My friend Joe swears by taking glycerine and he always has a bottle to sip from at a gig, he claims its the best he has tried for keeping the throat coated and lubricated...and he sings professionally all over UK and Europe.
I rarely use throat lozenges but do sometimes have some little tiny throat pastilles sitting in my mic case they are called nigroids and look a bit like dutch licorice.
Finally half way thru a gig if I am scratchy, I will sip rum and ginger wine. My prefered ratio is 1 nip of dark rum to two of ginger wine (not ginger ale or soda) and then I sip them full strength without ice. A couple of them will take you thru the toughest gig with flying colours...but steady as she goes cos its a potent brew

Well, I have three remedies that I use interchangeably, and working 5 nights a week I haven't had throat problems is quite some time using these:

Listerine breath strips work good, as does the spray. Both together, even better. A quick spray before I sing works nicely and even clears my nose up!

I also sip some Southern Comfort and Lime too. Gets my Steve Perry voice warmed up... lol.
