Got a TON of gigs booked over the next 2 months. I think I only have one Friday & Saturday off in June.

And we are doing the sound for "Iowa Falls Idol" on a Wed nite. Every year that have "law chair nite" with some kind of performance. Usually about 50-100 attend. But for the "Iowa Falls Idol" nite which coincides with "Taste of Iowa Falls", they had 300+ last year. Last year our "competitor" did the sound and messed up bad. He actually mad an announcement over the mic saying sorry to the people in the back that can hear the performances, but his amps (I think radio shack lol) are over heating.

SO for this one I am breaking out all the extras... compressors, EQs, & extra amps/speakers, and the GOOD MICS. I think I will even get out the ole' Black Widows, they still sound good. Setting it up in the yard for a test run this weekend to see if I can pi$$ off the neighbors LOL To bad there wasnt a way I could fly my speakers easily/cheaply.

Are you in Iowa Falls?

I actually had the Shure 55 for a while, got rid of it, anyone who tried to use - except maybe 3 that I can recall, always tried to hold it and sing into it like a regular mic, not through the front, but to the top. It became too much of a problem trying to do a quick education during a show. Finally sold it.

Lonnie --how do you like the GX5? I've been eyeing that amp for months now just waiting to pull the trigger. Is it as advertised ? ( perfect for 500watt speakers )
Eventually going back to some Yamaha SV115V and was wondering.

Ok actually hooked it up & used it tonight, the difference was night & day just with the extra couple hundred watts per channel that I was getting, I actually had to turn the bass down a bit from what I was using, the clarity increased quite a bit & wasn't as harsh. Singers were actually commenting on the sound difference that the sound was fuller & everything was clearer and I did not say a word about the amp change to anyone - again reinforcing my belief the singers CAN actually tell the difference in good sound.

Just started a "NEW" show last Tuesday -- You just never know where opportunities come from... Last few months been going to this "bar & grill" for lunch on FRIDAYS and started talking to the bartender . Turns out she also bartends TUESDAY nights and has been begging the owner to have Karaoke Nights on Tuesdays.
Once she knew I KJ I was a shoe in when the owner cmae around (which they did last week) 1st night was a BLAST, not to crowded but everyone who was there had fun. Compliments of the show/sound/music came from even the COOK LOL .

Place is very small -- used 1 -15" speaker on a stand and the other on the floor angled 45degrees. weird set up but it gave a full sound without overpowering the bar. (not too loud ---not too soft ).

Owner committed to a 6 week run and then they will evaluate the benefits ($$$$)

That's awesome! Never underestimate small places. I wouldn't trade my little whole in the ground for anything. I think patrons are friendlier and more loyal in a small environment.

yeah this place is small and will be very BARTENDER dependent --meaning the crowd will more than likely be brought in by her. Although I did have 6 people on Tuesday that would not have been there except for me. lol

But I think 3 people left because they could hear the baseball game on the TV

Win some Lose some LOL
