Well now, I changed directions on this. I took the entire Rolling Stone Greatest 500 Songs Of All Time and placed them in a play-list backwards and let everyone know.
I was unable to get all of them in less than 2 hours of playing but by playing the peppiest ones I was able to get nearly 200 songs (about 30 seconds worth for each song) and people were loving the play-list and format (short versions). I had people telling me this and at the end the organizers said they had lots of compliments on the DJ and the music this year.
I gotta admit, I stayed away from Dylan, I didn't want to put anyone to sleep.
The run theme sounded good but when piecing it together, I just didn't feel a good vibe going.
I did however play the Rocky theme just before they started. Thanks for that suggestion.
Not sure this would work for karaoke (transition music), depends on the crowd I suppose.
