Quote: I was going to add a pic or two of my DJ booth, but it appears i've reached my maximum upload quota of 1mb
best way is to uplaod to a photo site like Photobucket and embed the link here.

Ok..
Here's a pic of the DJ booth folded up..
http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa4 ... folded.jpg
And here it is unfolded with the rack in place..
http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa4 ... folded.jpg
Literally takes me less than 5 seconds to unfold the booth. It's all hinged and self contained.
I have less than $60 in parts and materials in the booth.. one of these days i'll build another one with a little thinner plywood and cover it in carpet.
The mic stand in the pic is a repurposed lamp arm that I carry in my speaker cable/power cable bag. Just pops right into the socket that's bolted to the booth.

I must be missing something.
I uploaded straight from my desktop.
I would upload my rack.
Hey you already know what a scrap heap looks like.

I did too.. my first picture.. but there evidently is a 1mb limit per user, and my images were a bit too 'big'.

Here is mine:
It has the wrong set of mikes in there as this is an old picture. I no longer have a camera so taking a picture of my present rack isn't possible.

timberlea,
Man, you still packing disc's? That has to be a load to tote. Hell, with that many, who would want to spend the time to rip them all?

I use my best friend to move them. Her name is Dolly. Ramp in, ramp out, no heavy lifting. Plus we need no tables.

Ding, ding, ding!!! Gutter tell him what he's won!! Seriously this is a very important fact and I believe the one that Keith was trying to underscore with this thread. There is no one right way to do this job and you can be successful in so many ways. If you're comfortable using a rig with limited features you'll do better with that than trying to use a more feature rich rig that you're uncomfortable with. We shouldn't be fighting our equipment but using it to make our jobs easier.

I wish I still had a picture of my very first KJ rig.. because I started out with a 'go big or go home' mentality.
It was a full rack, with a 1402 VLZ Pro Mackie mixer, 4U rackmount PC, Alesis rackmount EQ, Alisis MidiVerb, Pioneer LaserDisc player, and it all ran through a t.c. electronic finalizer before hitting a three way stereo crossover and feeding 3 QSC amps.
I built a special mount to clip on a 15" LCD monitor (pretty pricey at the time) and at the very top of the rack was a slide out rackmount keyboard with integrated trackball.
There was no picking it up.. used a dolly to move it around, and kept a small fold out facade to make everything look pretty from the crowds point of view.
I'd just wheel it out to the back of my Chevy Astro, but the back up against the bumper, and do a squat lift to tip it up and into the van on it's back. Once in the van, it was easy to slide around on its back on the vans carpeted floor.
From that starting point, i've slowly boiled my system down to the rig I use today over 10+ years of weekly gigs with the ultimate goal of getting a lightweight, easy to setup rig that I don't need a van or dedicated vehicle or trailer to haul around.
If I ever need more power, I can just get a small rack case and put a couple amps and a crossover in it and put it under the desk side of the booth (where I currently stow my empty cable, screen, and laptop cables)
I had been running Yamaha SV115's, but got a deal on the BR15's and like their slightly more compact (and significantly lighter) design. They don't quite have the power handling capability so I pulled the QSC amp out and have been running this Phonic XP1000 that I scored off Craigslist for $75.
Props to the guys with deep pockets and strong backs, but the older I get the more I remember my fathers advice years ago: Keep it simple, stupid.

Ok, here is mine. Far from compact it is a SKB Mighty Gig Rig...huge...but there is room to grow.... if i grow that is. I know it is a lot more than I needed but I always liked the Mighty Gig Rig and when I was able to order 1 brand new from SKB thu GC at half price I couldn't resist.

I have found quite a few with all the features one would need.

Someone will win this competition. it might as well be you! Bewarned that letitrip's mixer has slider knobs that dance automaticly. They can put on quite a show. I'm thinking your knobs can dance and bounce too, so yeah, let's see them... may the best rack win!
Yeah, but watch for the newbies that are easily offended!

I'm sure you are all dying to see KingBing's rack. I attached and commented, message at t he top said I was successful, but I don't see it. Tried again and again but keeps telling me I've reach my limit. I even shrunk the picture to 4.16 kb. Oh well, happy new year!
