Well from my point of view, I thought the show was wonderful. To me it showed there is hidden talent in karaoke. With such talented singers, there may be more respect for the business itself. Being a pro singer myself at one time, I was actually awed. It made me feel inspired. There is always room for improvement in the way I sing. I thought Meredith was awesome! She reminded me of Christina Aquilera (Hope I spelled her name right) and the woman who sang the Whitney Houston song was fabulous too. Yeah I agree, that the young guy with the yellow shirt, (can't remember his name) was great, to me was better than the singing teacher. Ah well, Just my opinion. I watch all those sort of shows because it gives me new ideas on how to perform. Same as American Idol, The Voice, Xfactor...etc. It's never too late to learn, at least for me.

Im glad the music teacher went on. He had alot of soul. The guy that voice cracked was lame and boring. You could tell he was a drag queen. Thats cabaret not karaoke. Creepy to hear a man sing like a woman. He also was more about emulating a singer than singing the song. I firmly belive that vocal melody is to be performed just like a guitar part. Note for note.

For the most part I enjoyed the show. The judges were annoying at times. I agreed with the female choice and there was a lot of great female talent. I wasn't surprised by the 2 guys for the finals and was a little surprised by the decisions.
I really enjoyed the kid in the black shirt and shorts. Definitely didn't expect him to get up and sing James Brown. That's one of the things about karaoke I really enjoy is you never really know what to expect. Really puts in to perspective that you can't judge a book by its cover.

I was in the boondocks in Ontario and had no access to this. Forgot to record it and youtube doesn't have it. Any way of getting it?
Bad singers on tv doing karaoke? Hmmm maybe more people will realize you don't have to be a superstar to go to a karaoke bar, sing and have a good time.
Good singers? Interesting show.
I don't know how the show can lose but I'm not in that business so who knows.

I've loved the show so far. I would have liked to get involved as a host, but found out about the contest too late to set anything up. In Michigan, the only place to enter was Taylor, where one company with three venues was sending people to the regionals. One singer from Taylor was on the Chicago show. If there is a second season, I will get involved next year. The contest runs every year apparently, but this is the first time it was televised. If there is going to be a second season, people need to get the ratings up by setting their DVR, etc. Also, go to ABC and fill out their form about wanting a second season. http://abc.go.com/site/contact-us

Set my DVR up last Thursday. Watched this weekend. Great show at the HOB in Chi town. I was actually driving past Chicago on my way home the night they recorded. Stiff competition, a few stinkers that made it funny. But gotta tell ya two things. I was so happy they had a man past 60 on the show. The other thing, he got stiffed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He didn't even make the final two and I felt he had more talent than either! Apparently he was a Soul Train dancer back in the day.

I agree Rip, maybe they figured he wouldn't bring in many viewers.......so wrong in my opinion
ps.....doesn't seem like many of us are watching the program, so I'd say the general public would watch even less. A Friday night time slot was sure to make it a failure. I wonder how well A.I. would have done, if it had aired on a Friday night?

Yep, change from Friday. Just asking for failure.

It seems to me, that one could record the show for later viewing, if busy on friday. At least I do. Just a thought. Honey

Friday isn't a problem with me. My DVR is set to record the series. The "change the night" discussion is geared more towards will this show last past it's first season. Not on Fridays.
