I had some friends who saved up for a holiday of a lifetime then on there holiday a hurricane ruined not just their holiday but the lives of hundreds of thousands ..I like the idea of New Orleans it ticks lots of boxes , i love blues and soul i love food .. but i am put off a little with the potential of something like floods and hurricanes from happening as it does seem to happen on a regular basis in some places

I know i am sounding fussy but i want to plan as much as i can

Lonman, New Orleans is one of the most open minded cities anyone will ever visit, and it's located in the south east.

Someday i'll get down there, always wanted to go.
Just a bad 'stereotypical' joke regarding the south. Heard something very similar on Blue Collar Radio the other day, was just passing it on.

Probably the entire mid south & south east of the states..... j/k
Seattle and Tacoma is a great place to visit, i'm 40-45 minutes south of Seattle. Definitely got the techy/gear side covered for ya :D

Uhhh, and the beaches?

Plenty of local beaches on the Puget Sound & the ocean beaches are about 1 plus away.
