Birdofsong, sorry you're seeing it that way, but again, that's your prerogative. In the OP, I specifically said that I was strictly karaoke. Looking for 100 songs. The first few responses seemed to know what the question was, and responded to MY question. Then, as has been happening on the forum, the topic changed to "how can you expect to get PAID as a DJ with only 100 songs", or "how can you expect to MARKET yourself as a DJ". All of that had nothing to do with MY question (which I thought was pretty simple, and straight forward), so if it offends you and some others for being asked to STICK to the OP, sorry. But the information about becoming a DJ, or MARKETING myself as one did me absolutely no good as far as finding out WHERE I CAN PURCHASE THESE SONGS. Thanks.

Rosario

Ok, I know this will probably be easy for you guys to answer. I have a list of 100 top dance songs (not karaoke). So where can I go to order (custom) discs with these songs on them. I am "all karaoke, all the time" at my shows, but would like to have these songs for "specials", like private parties, or weddings. Looking for a site where I can check their songlist, see if they have "my" songs, compile maybe 5 discs of 20 songs each, and order them. I've seen sites with "free" mp3 downloads, but am assuming it's the same as karaoke (illegal) is that right or is it different for plain music? Thanks for your help.

There is only one question here and I can't understand it's purpose...

Here are the only two possible answers:

A) No, it is different for "plain music" and you can download all the music you want for free.... forever.

B) It's illegal... just like karaoke.

Which answer seems to be "more correct?" I think it's an unnecessary question for anyone claiming to be "a businessman."

I understand that you are "all karaoke" and you may not have been soliciting comments regarding your desires or even capabilities as a Disc jockey. I also think the "help" you find so offending was never aimed at putting you down or criticizing you at all.
Their point is simply if you intend to cross that line between DJ and KJ, you're going to need more than just 100 songs.
Your responses are (IMHO) alienating the very ones you're seeking advice from.

I think Amazon was the best answer, but you may want to go back to where you got your list to see if they offer a compilation cd. If this is a list of the top 100, I would expect the existence of a compilation cd somewhere that would cost less, target or kmart perhaps.

As for offering additional thoughts on the subject of a top 100, what's wrong with that? Is there some rule that all responses to a thread must stricktly revolve around the original poster? Is it not possible that someone else may be looking here and find the extra information helpful?

To be fair to the others, the extra advice did not come until after your question was answered, and then your answer could have been interpreted to have solicited it.

Thanks for the options (so far), but I have no desire to be a dj, I love being a karaoke host, with no dj sets, etc. So, since that is the case, I'm just looking to add the top 100 dance songs of all time. I've found a list that I think would be satisfactory for any "special event" that I might acquire. So it would not be in my best interest to join a music club, etc. If i could just find a business that sold music by (custom order), that would be perfect. Mckyj, I'm going to check out amazon. Never ordered music from them, so I'll do some investigating as to how I can find, and order these songs. Any other info is appreciated. Thanks, Rosario.

Suppose a DJ posted here that he was going to add some "karaoke special events" and wanted to know where he could fulfill his list of the top 100 karaoke songs. Don't you think he would benefit from a little extra advice coming from those who understand the challenges such an endeavor would present?
