What people are you referring to who give a S**T whether you own or are renting your song tracks (unless they are trying to get you to rent from them)? Also, what people give a S**T whether someone else has access to your business records or not? And, what business is it of theirs anyway???

Over the years, I've seen people on here giving a sh!t about all kinds of stupid stuff.........that's who...

The OP asked if anyone had checked the SC certified host list lately. My answer- in regard to venues and the rest of the non-forum world- is "probably not". Which is another reason that the site is worthless...


However, I went and looked simply because of the existance of this thread, and found the following:

1) Not a single "certified" {snicker} host in all of NY or NJ- two of the most densely populated states in the country- and two states with a low BS tolerance as well....

2) Of the 4 or 5 who actually bought GEMS in NJ at least 2 were intimidation sales ( I know these KJs) and one has no shows.


3) The listing of those whose "prior problems" have been cleared is EXTREMELY limited- and grand total of NINE.- out of all the suits???!!! There were 20 or more in NJ alone ( and no solved problems here)! While I am aware that many would prefer not to be listed this is still a miniscule amount.

Despite all the noise here on the forum, in the real world SC's looking like spit on a hot griddle. On the other hand, they are probably making all the money such a tiny company needs....

I disagree. If you read their contract it specifically says:



There is nothing in this contract that says they can look at your records only if you breach the agreement and it's actually quite the opposite: You have agreed that they can look at your records any time they request an audit.

Gotta love your wording. You make it sound like they can do an audit anytime they want. They can, if they want, do ONE AUDIT per YEAR, after giving you a week's notice. That is a big difference. Further the audit is related only to your karaoke business and nothing else.

Yes, they can do one audit per year. Which means they can look at your accounting records – for your karaoke business – once per year if they are in the mood.

You either agree to it, or you don't get the set.

Which is like every other contract out there, the parties either agree and sign or not. So what is your point, other than your open hate for anything Sound Choice.

No Audit. No Financial Record requests. No calls. No "rent". No bills. No black helicopters. Nothing. Nada.

I'll be sure to let you know when they do.

They're probably afraid of you......after reading some of your posts.... .......I mean that as a complement....

They won't need to.... but how will you feel if their cloud gets off the ground and they start offering your competitors a library of instead of 6,000 songs they make it 56,000 songs? Will you join them? Will your Gem lease be useless? Will you simply mail the cd's back in?

(inquiring minds want to know!)

Well it's been six months since we got the Gem and were happy as hell to have it. My main complaint is we have yet to get added to that list. That said, it hasn't been updated in quite a long time.

First, one has no bearing on the other. Did the GEM series make those SC discs collecting dust in your garage useless? Will you destroy your "useless" SC Eagles discs when the SC cloud comes out? Of course not.

Now, as for Part 2, it all depends on the price! If the songs offered are ones I need for an unbeatable price, yes! Crazy price? Nope.

Third, I will never "mail them back in" any more than you would mail yours back in. Why on earth would I do that? I have NO payments on my "Lease" as you love to mis-characterize it as. My license was paid in full years ago so I can use them for as long as I like.

I won't ever have to mail anything in. I own the discs and I won't have to pay even $33 per year to keep them. You will have to whenever THEY want THEIR PROPERTY back.

Meh. Even if I pay $33 a year for twenty years, LONG after they are obsolete, it will still be less $$$ than "owning" the same 6000 songs. If they even charge the $33 at all, which I seriously doubt. I'll let you know in two years.

Um....how many SC songs did you own before you got the gem and did a trade in? Were the gem songs shinier than your old songs? Do they sparkle more? Have that "special zing?"

I'm unclear as to what benefit you really got -- you were certainly going to have permission to shift your "old" discs to a computer -- you had no qualms about showing them to SC. So instead of just doing that -- with songs you already paid for...you decided you hadn't spent enough money on songs you already purchased?

Well, actually yes. They are MUCH shinier and do sparkle more. They were new you see, not scratched and heavily used. But that is not the reason I did it. Do you seriously STILL not understand?

Really? SERIOUSLY? You are "unclear" as to the benefit? Are you really going down the "paid twice" road yet again? Geez, you really need to take an "improve your memory" course. I have explained this to you at least 8 times now, yet you keep coming back with the same questions, claiming to not understand. Obviously you are confused. Allow me to explain yet again.

Please try to follow along:

1. I owned both Sound Choice Foundations and all 5 bricks. The industry standard starter set that all KJ's should own. I purchased these on eBay used. Many were scratched, all were heavily used.
   
2. The above totaled exactly 1500 songs.
   
3. The GEM series was released, numbering 6000 songs, already to go in MP3+G format, factory ripped at 320kbps. (That's 4500 more you see! )
   
4. I knew that Sound Choice was far and above the BEST at true-to-original renditions. I wanted those 4500 songs, as I wanted to have the BEST music for my clientele. I wanted the larger, super-giant-ultimate-platinum set you see.
   
5. BUT! I couldn't GET just those 4500 songs to round out my collection. Since the GEM's are arranged differently, I couldn't get just a "GEM Filler set" containing only the exact 4500 I needed. I had to think of a different option.
   
6. What to do! What to do!
   
7. So I emailed Kurt Slep and said "Kurt! I already have 1500 of those 6000 songs. I want as many SC songs as I can get, but I have no need to "double up" on 1500 of them. Can you help me out?" And he said..."YES! We will give you CREDIT for those songs towards the 6000. We will BUY BACK your old, USED discs at FULL PRICE, and apply that full amount towards a GEM set."

So you see, it really had nothing to do with how shiny they were (or weren't). It had to do with NOT needing 1500 duplicates and being able to return them to the factory for FULL price (much more than I paid, making a PROFIT) and THEN get the WHOLE 6000 song mega set at a discounted price.

As you are so fond of saying, I did not "pay twice". Perhaps this analogy will help you understand:

Bird-Of-Song buys a used Home Depot, 5-piece screwdriver set on eBay then uses it for two years. "What wonderful screwdrivers!" she says! "But I want the new 30 piece set but don't need a bunch of duplicates.? <Bird-Of-Song Pouts!>.

Then Bird-Of Song has an idea. "I will return the used set to Home Depot, getting a store credit for full retail price! Brilliant! Then I will take that store credit and buy the 30-piece set I so desire!"

Bird-Of-Song is happy. She has the larger set for less money. What a bargain hunter she is!

I find owning discs and not using them as intended is really the stupid thing here.
