okay then. I guess my only gripe should have bene that it wasn't advertised properly. Now that I know what they expect; I'd go to a different show instead. He played more DJ music than karaoke music for the time that I was there.

I cant stand Picture it seems it doesnt matter where you go someone has to pull out this song...yuck!!!! it way overdone!!!!!

If you've ever had some crazy b!tch do that sh!t to your car, sometime earlier in your life........you won't find that stupid f#%@n' song upbeat at all..... ........not to mention giving some females, ideas...... ......not to mention....it's been sung to death......

Like Rick Good, my file of "The Rose" got corrupted and can't be played anymore. My file of "Picture" is about to have a bug in it too. Another corrupted file I have is "Don't Take The Girl". Ain't it funny how only some files just won't play anymore.

"My heart will go on" by Celine Dion. Oh, please kill me now! The song is included in “time for my bathroom break”. I think the only usefulness for this song is a form of torture next to water boarding in interrogation tactics.

I have one lady singer that sings this all the time, every time. Very nice, friendly & funny, her pr is topnotch, except that song. We encouraged her to sing any Celine song once in a while, 87 Celine songs listed in my book but to no avail. You can hear the gasps when she enters the room “ohhh sh**ttt, Miss Titanic is here!” Oh, she also sings Patsy Cline’s “Crazy”. Only those two.

I like the suggestion of: “sorry, can’t play that song anymore, got “corrupted” from overplay” but we don’t want to lose her as we become accustomed to her ways

I used to hate the same ol' people, that would always come up with long a$$ songs........then one day.....when I had a bad case of the green apple splatters......they became my best friends that night.....

Corrupted files? Please. That would make it seem like you have faulty stuff that have no interest in fixing IMO. Would not use that as an excuse. Don't want the song played - take it completely out of your books & off the computer and just say you don't have it.

I said I just like the suggestion - in reference to another post (page one) “Re: corrupted file & can’t be played”. Doesn’t mean I’m gonna do it. She can always say get another one - as a customer how can anyone turn that down? Besides, I use the same books for my private parties. Funny, didn’t mind hearing it the other week when another singer performed the song flawlessly, nailed it all the way to the big key change at the end.

Well, I guess that explains all those wet a$$ holes.....

Not sure, i've heard too many here (and older defunct forums) state over the years, they verbally tell people these songs are broke & will not play - this stems back to when everyone was running on discs only as well.
Again, if you don't want them played, take them out of your books.
Can't remember who it was, but they stated they don't allow any song over 4 or 5 minutes (can't remember which - I think it was 5, which really eliminates thousands of great karaoke tracks). Now whether they list these songs or take them out, I don't remember, but it sure would be a bad thing IMO to keep telling people, this song is too long - pick another.

Here's a problem then. You tell them you don't have a certain song, and they know you will get songs that you don't have, when a customer asks.......so what will you say to them when they ask you to get it?.. ......of course a "corrupted file" is a bit silly to me also.....

Right - just allow the stupid song to begin with.

That's how I played it. I've had great versions of "these boots" and bad. People loved the good and made it through the bad.

Exactly, its karaoke! You are going to hear some of the more overdone songs in some places. Luckily I don't get as many of the overdone songs that most get, I get a entirely different list of overdone songs! If I hear Slipknot's Snuff again, i'll poke myself in the temple with one of my pens !

Although Lonman did not name me per se, why do I feel like his comments were intended intentionally for me since his post was following mine?

I was clear when I said “I like the suggestion of”…. Liking one’s idea doesn’t necessarily mean I will put it into action & to even tell her it was deleted from my books? Wow! Fine & dandy if I stated “next time I’ll tell her the files are corrupted”, but to insinuate, or assume that I will do such action is beyond me. Jeeezz!!!

No wasn't directed to you - Skid actually mentioned it first, but have heard that comment from numerous kj's over the years - many that actually HAVE said that and enforce it, not just TIC. I know a guy here that does it if he hates a song.

The list seems fairly accurate; these are universal karaoke favorites, and I as a host am obligated to put up with several of these selections on any given night. It comes with the territory, and it's what I get paid for; I do generally have a verbal disclaimer at the top of my show that states that I *will* indulge in light, good-natured ribbing at the expense of any patron who chooses a Nickelback song. It hasn't backfired yet; one particularly loyal couple who's attended multiple shows of mine faithfully for years (they met and bonded at one of my shows, and booked a big ol' karaoke extravaganza for their wedding) loves Nickelback, despite my constant derision of the band. I included two "Nickelback coupons" in their Christmas card, entitling them to one Nickelback song free of any snarky comments from the host, much to their delight.

But I've gone off-topic a bit; I agree that "Don't Stop Believin'" is the worst karaoke song ever, but I've gone kind of numb to it at this point. "Picture" is still a four-pillow snoozer, exacerbated by my duets policy (which dictates "if you need a duet partner, I'll happily participate"); my exception to that policy is "Paradise By the Dashboard Light", which I always get around by the whole "it's a bad look for the host to eat up 9 minutes singing when there's a big rotation" excuse. (That way, I also avoid confessing that I'm not confident in my ability to ape young Meat Loaf's robust tenor.)

I also really hate "Before He Cheats", but I poke a little bit of fun at the song after it's been sung. (After all, the narrator is the real villain of the song - she keeps saying that her beau is "probably" doing a bunch of things, and therefore vandalized his car without a shred of evidence. It's downright psychotic.)

Kinda like SC........before he shifts.......
