Like many of you have said, I should have let them handle it. I chose to speak to him as I would have wanted this done if the shoe were on the other foot. OF course the word spread that I kicked him out etc. and what an a** I am. Completely not true, I have actually bent over backwards for this guy over the years, buying CD's with his song request & knowing he is the only one that sings these songs. Hind-site is 20/20.

Everyone should read and heed your advice. Sorry it turned out that way.

I have one... He was frustrated and no one responded to his singing. He tossed my mic on my table. I 86'd him from singing. After 4 months and my wife's pressure, I let him sing again. Well that lasted until three weeks ago, again he tossed it. Never again will he sing at our gig... BTW he was a very poor singer and no one will miss him, but he still drinks at the bar... Go figure...

Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm sorry the guy didn't appreciate your efforts.

I wonder if a bar has ever created a karaoke chip? Like you buy something and the bartender hands you a poker chip or something that you give the host when he puts you in the rotation. No chip - no sing.
