There is a direct flight from Houston to Knoxville which is about 30 mi away..

Thanks Lowrider. Unfortunately Houston is about 5 hours away  from dallas, in the wrong direction.  But it was a nice thought.  Do you think you will be able to attend?  We will be giving additional details on Monday.

Dont know but if you are flying Knoxville is a lot closer than  Memphis. Actually the airport is south of Knoxville. link

hi folks. Well the visit to the orthopaedic specialist didnt go as well as I had hoped. What my GP had explained as a small tear in my cruciate ligament is in actual fact a total detachment and he seems to think the reason I cant straighted my leg fully and feel like there is a wedge of something spongey in the joint, is in fact the ligament wedged in the joint. So he has recommended surgery to remove it and also remove the flap of cartilage that tore away as well.

He seems to think I will make a full recovery but physiotherapy will play a large part as they dont intend to try and reconstruct the ligament as reconstruction is hugely invasive and the rehabilitation process slow and not always sucessful. So it will be a matter of encouraging muscles in that area to take up the job the ligament used to do of stabilising the joint.

Anyway he has suggested that if I can postpone my trip it will allow me more time to make a full recovery. I sincerely apologise to anyone who has been inconvenienced by this...I hate how everything has hinged upon my progress since this stupid rediculous accident.

Anyway for now my trip is postponed and I hope that I can rethink it after the operation which  according the surgeon is marked as urgent and should be early next month. In NZ with an injury due to accident, everyone is covered by the Accident compensation corporation. Everyone who is working has levies deducted from their salary to cover this...I pay twice as I also pay a self employed levy for my music business. What that means is that any accidental injury gets priority private care, so I shouldnt have to wait too long.

Vicki, my prayers will be with you for a speedy and full recovery. I will do my best to keep my calendar open for when you let us know when you will be able to travel. Hugs to you, m'dear!~!

You will feel so much better when you are all healed up.  

We will have to do this as soon as you are all healed and out of danger from re-injuring yourself.  



And I am really bummed out.  So now we are planning a trip to somewhere else. Don't know where yet.

OK The plan has changed Come to northern colorado for a 2 day  all nighter outdoor karaoke fest. Bring a sleeping bag Beer is free but BYOB. The accomodations are free but be expected to join my family. This is a genuine offer Please reply!!

Dunno Just a suggestion. It really hasnt been planned yet. Would be determined by interest and response here. It doesnt take long to set up the awnings and get the beer kegs.

The only advance requirement would be renting outside facilities. Rv's are welcome but no dumping facilities.
