$20 tab is very reasonable and as you said you rarely use the entire tab anyway. The way I see it if you don't use it all up by the end of the night it flushes and does not carry over to the next night. If you go over the limit ....just pay them and forget it!  That's the deal right?

I understand where you are coming from...really! But a deal is a deal.

This is certainly not worth making a fuss over if you value their business and enjoy working with them. Ultimately how you handle this is up to you but I see this as a very minor bump in the road and you should move beyond it.

The Conclusion.

I went in as usual and ordered a Pepsi. Paul and a waitress started setting up more tables and during the process, we discussed the tab in a very friendly joking fashion. I did get serious for a minute and he sat down. I told him the next day my concern was my host having more than 2 shots which I suspected from the total. He assured me he had 3 at the most.

Then I told him never give me or my help more than 2 shots. He agreed fully.

During the night we each had a sandwich and 1 shot. At payout as per planned he took my hosts cost out of his cut which was $8. Then all 3 of us had a friendly discussion about prices and the agreement turned out to be once in awhile we would get a free shot. Eventually it was a further bonding between all. Yes we did pack out again. I had 2 enquiries about private parties. One was from a band that happened in after a school performance.
