For the most part this is kind of a guy thing. Some people take normal everyday things personally. Don Shula once said "Problems are just a question in search of an answer"
What I said is to remind me that it doesn't matter if I had a screwed up earlier life. My parents did the best possible job they could. (Mine actually did pretty well, considering.)
In a lot of cases, the job done was horrible. Incredibly crappy. Criminal. But even though we can acknowledge that for what it is, it doesn't matter. We have to on with the rest of our lives dealing with those problems. We may not be responsible for all of them, but we are responsible for the solution.
