rip, I wouldn't eat cats out of the Miss if I were you. I'm upstream from you and I wouldn't eat them out of the Miss up here, maybe another 30 mile north of me I would.
.......Farm Raised Cats, now there is some good eating!

I went to Estacada yesterday. My son Harley's girfriend was singing at the Lavender Festival, so we went to that and then took Tucker and Shooter to Small Fry Lake at Promontory. Didn't fish myself, just took the grandkids. They seriously need to restock there... I so wanted them to get to reel in a fish. The guy said it's been about 3 weeks since they stocked it though- and people fish it out so fast. (it's just a one acre lake, for younguns to fish only)
Got some cute pics of them though, with their new Mickey Mouse poles.

RLC, I was raised on channel cat and have been eating it for 50 years. No problemo here, others might tell you I'm a little goofy!

(see how nice I really am?)

Quote: Just a boy and his dog! Smile
Fire up a coleman stove on the tail gate. Heat frying pan with olive oil salt etc.
Put a small bass sinker on the bottom. A hook 6 inches and a hook 12 inches from the sinker. Put a night crawler on the bottom hook and salmon eggs on the top hook. Keep line tight and hooks off the bottom. Cast beyond the ripples.
Clean and fry trout when caught. When the hunger is gone catch and release. There is nothing like waking up in a tent by a lake like that and doing the above..
I had a miniature dachsund that would watch the line and when pulling in and they reached 10 feet from shore he would jump in and drag them up on the bank. That lil hound lived to hunt mice and fish.
This is a digital of an old old pic. Look close you can see the rod. I cant look at this photo with dry eyes. Click on thumbnail.

And that is fly fishing you see in the pic by the way. Size 14 ROYAL COACHMAN and BLACK ANT flys.
Got NOTHING on bait(eggs or powerbait).
Switch to flys and started getting IMMEDIATE bites!! (usually use the clear bubbles on spin rig----but had none so a regular old red and white BOBBER had to do---ADAPT IMPROVISE AND OVERCOME!!)
Would love to use traditional fly rod---but usually not any kind of room to allow the neccessary back casting, unless in a roomy meadow or with waders.
But clear bubble with flys is MORE THAN DEADLY for trout regardless of where Ive gone(Idaho, Wyoming, Montanna, Washington, Oregon, Cali, Italy and New Zealand). Makes no difference.
Can also catch the occasional Bass and Bluegills and Sunfish just LOVE EM'!!
Every year at least once or twice me and the kidlin go down I-5 jsut past Woodburn to a place called ST LOUIS PONDS----old gravel pits from when they built the freeway(about 10 of them) with lots of panfish, bass, catfish. Just knock em dead with trout flys and dont have to monkey with the mess of bait!!

I havnt fished with a fly rod in years. A few years ago I was helping an old friend fill his nut machines in various stores. We were in a sporting goods store and there was some fly rods hanging on the wall I grabbed one and bent the tip down to the handle. HOW MUCH IS THIS ONE? The owner didnt bat an eye and said $869.95. I very very careful let the tip go back to where it was, hung it back very careful and started filling nut machines.
