Babs, don't be so hard on yourself over this incident and your supposed lack of recognizing what was going on. I have a feeling that anyone who has been "surprised" like you were would probably say the same thing. The issue is that these types of creeps are usually pretty good actors, too.

Babs, for the safety of yourself and now your family, I'd file a report, and makes sure he knows it. I like the mace idea as well. I thought I read on a previous post that you had a stalker (maybe someone else), and I don't know how that worked out, but File a report, tell the owner and the wife. Nothing here is your fault.

I haven't read every post since I made my last post, but I feel compelled to urge you not to confront this guy on any level, neither with humor, sarcasm or threats.

1. talking to him on any level on any subject could be encouragement enough for him to continue thinking and acting as he has. Why? Because what he did resulted in you engaging him in conversation
2. specifically mentioning his wife as a "threat" may, in effect, be silly. does he really have a wife? if he does, is his marriage important to him? is the marriage important to his wife? does he do what he wants in spite of his wife's feelings? You CAN'T know the answers to these questions.
3. if he doesn't know what he did was wrong, nothing you can/will say will modify his future behavior if he has fixated on you
4. it would be unwise for you to believe or trust anything he may say to you in response to your criticism of what he did, so why discuss it with him?

I can believe the garage full of monkeys. But having met you, the old and bald part is wrong unless you have the most stunning wig and a lifetime membership at the fountain of youth.

Can you give us an update on what's happened? Did this goof show up last night?

I spoke to the owner the day after and he was surprised it happened. He said he knows him so well he was at the hospital with him when his wife first got sick. He sat with him in the bar the night this happened and he said he gave no indication he was fixated on me. He also told me he was in a good mood and was telling him how everything was going so well for him now. Weird !

Anyway, he is going to have a talk with him and if I have any trouble from him at all again he will be barred. He thought he would be embarrassed by what he did and probably won't come back anyway. He also said his wife doesn't want him coming to the bar, so maybe he won't be back.

He was not there last night. I don't want to sound like a scared little girl because I'd like to think I'm a strong person. But I'll have to say I was more than nervous going to karaoke last night. I don't want to see him or talk to him even if he does want to apologize. I also had a talk with some of my 20 something girls that are regulars that come to the bar. I told them I don't want them walking to and from their cars alone any more and that even if you think someone is normal you can't be to careful.

The bar parking lot gets easily full and you have to park down the street behind some buildings and I see them walk from their cars to the bar all the time. I would hate to see something happen.

Oh and I bought some pepper spray !

Keep that spray in your hand at all times when alone and out side in the dark or even in the daylight. Hope everything works out ok for you.

I like a good old fashion branding iron. Mark them so everyone knows their jerks.

I know our bartenders have a billy club, I think that's what their called. I've never seen it used though.
