Now a days with the smoking laws I'll get many singers asking me when they are up ...as they want to go out and smoke and are asking as a courtesy to ME. Cause if they are up soom they may wait .....or at least hurry up .
There are a few stead fast rules for banning singers
Excessive Profanity
Abuse to equipment (including YELLING into the mic)
Insulting other singers or the KJ
Too drunk ( cut off at the bar)
Annoying singers are just part of the biz ...... a VERY SMALL PART but they are out there.

I hate this too...it has to be a universal ploy. I just tell people "Sorry, but everybody has a song in and everybody has to leave sometime". If they get mouthy I just tell them "Look, I'm not going to p1ss off all these people so you can take off and leave me to deal with them! If you have to leave, then you have to leave."

And nine times out of ten they stay the entire night.

I Handle this particular request in this way. It's posted on the table when I play.
If you are leaving, and want me to move you up in the rotation for “one last song before I leave,” I'll be happy to do so. Just remember that you'll be scratched from the rotation for the rest of the show – even if you change your mind and decide to stay! This is the only way I know to accommodate this request and still be fair to the other singers.

In other words, it will be their final song PERIOD.

and what if every singer pulled this move when they wanted to leave after they just finished singing a song???? It's like rewarding someone with a "twofer" because they don't want to wait a full rotation to sing again......LIKE EVERYONE ELSE IS WILLING TO DO.
If you gotta go home, just GO HOME !!!
When people know you will let them get away with this tactic, they will do it every time they are at your show. If the wait is an hour to sing and you aren't willing or able to wait, why should you get bumped up so someone that is willing to wait until the end of the show will wind up not getting to sing because there just isn't enough time....BECAUSE THE KJ LET SOME JERK SING AN EXTRA TURN WITHOUT HAVING TO WAIT?
EVERYBODY should gave to wait for their turn. It's just FAIR. Why is that so hard to enforce?

That car story reminds me of what happened to me at a karaoke I sing at last Thursday. I had bought several tie-dye shirts from an ebay seller average cost about $15. I wanted them for a 70's party i was going to throw for my karaoke show, but then I lost it. Anyway, last thursday i was wearing one of them, and this fairly drunk lady comes up to me an hour into the karaoke.
"I LOVE your shirt, I want it, how much do you want for it".
Being a rather large person, I was uncomfortable with just taking it off and spending the rest of the night in a very thin undershirt, so I politley told her I wouldn't sell it at any price. She kept persisting.
finally it comes to the end of the night, and I was up and singing my last songs when several of her friends jump up on stage, one starts tickling me to distract me, while the other one pulls off my shirt, and I'm just trying to finish my stupid song.
So the woman who offered to buy it put it on and after I finished my song, I got a friend of mine to go get my shirt back. She didn't want to give it back, so I tried to think of a number that no one in their right mind would pay so I said `40 bucks and I`ll let you keep it` She didn`t even hesitate, she just forked over the cash.. So now I had no choice I had to let her keep it.
Makes me wish I had said $100, it`s always amazed me what drunk people will give you money for. When my friend sends them to me, I`ll post some pictures..

Down in Key West playing pirate for a show, we had a booth selling different things from some of the other pirates. One guy wanted to buy the belt my husband had on. He told him "I have another for sale right there on the table" The guy did not want that one he wanted the leather belt off of him (it being a real pirate belt and all, ) well my husband told him $75 and he did not bat an eye and bought it. My husband said to me later "Damn I knew I should have said more"
Oh by the way that was piratesinparadise you can look it up and see some wenches and pirates playing at invading from ships if you want.

I don't think anyone should be banned for repeatedly asking when their turn is; that's kind of one of the "hazards" of the job. If they do, however, bribe you to move them up, maybe you can give them some sort of warning. You can ban them if they are disruptive and are causing people grief. There was this one time a customer got annoyed with a singer for not singing the song right (come on, it s a karaoke bar; there is no right way of singing! ) They got into a screaming match, and we had to ask the guy in the audience to leave.
