Heh. Same here. Where most of the singers on any given night average around 0 dB on the meter, I have to turn myself down to -6 dB or I'm way too loud.

I have a tough time balancing sound at the club where I work. I have the karaoke room speakers and monitors, the dance floor speakers and the bar area speakers. Each pair is a different brand, so the sound color is different, and the bar speakers can't take too much output before they start squealing. Thankfully, they are each on different sliders, so I can adjust volume, but I have a hard time getting them all to sound good at the same time.

at all the venues where I sing, the acoustics are such that if I wanted to, I would not need a mic at all, and could be heard with perfect clarity from anywhere.

In fact on one or two songs, the only way i know how to sing it is at full volume, which means I CANT use the microphone or the speakers would completely blow, etiher that or the compression would kick in to the point that no one would be able to hear me..
