I know Ollie, you'd almost swear we were kin. :D
It was the same in my house. Us girls had to go help get firewood, and the boys took their turns at dishes. There really were no "boys chores" and "girls chores" for me growing up either.
Dad had some manly "ideals".... about boys not acting "girly". But he was- still is- a great cook, and an impecably clean person. You could eat off my dad's bathroom floor, he's a WAY better house keeper than I am. So not one of my brothers could say "boys don't cook & clean".... cause they'd have gotten the switch.

Charmin, I was the eldest of three boys ... no 'boy' or 'girl' chores. My mom came from a farming family and her attitude was "No woman is going to want any of you right away so you better know how to take care of yourselves!" We had to learn how to cook, clean, iron, etc. in addition to dad teaching us to hunt and fish. BTW her family made sure I could milk a cow, drive a tractor, bale hay and muck a barn. Not bad I'd say for a city kid. Just trying to sell my wife (raised in Miami) on getting back to the country some day.

Spam - accept no substitutes. Yeah, I'll 2nd that........ dsharrow, you can come cook breakfast for me anytime. :yum: Everyone laughs at me, but my favorite meat to eat with eggs.... is fried bologna. I much prefer it over bacon or sausage. Ham would win out though over bologna (canadian ham slices) Eggs over medium, buttered toast cooked on the griddle, fried bologna, and a side of fresh home grown sliced tomatoes. (salt and peppered to taste of course) Or... biscuits and suasage gravy with sliced tomatoes. Or left over cold fried chicken and pototoe salad with sliced tomatoes. Thing is, I HATE to cook. When my dad stays the night on weekends, I get totally babied for breakfast, he cooks up all that, plus usually grits and hash browns. (and I rarely ever eat breakfast... but I for sure do when he's here) .
Yes indeed, fried bologna is a delicacy on a budget!
All time favorite high fat, high calorie breakfast would be:
Country fried steak
Scrambled eggs topped with cheese, cooked onions and salsa
Bisquits and country sausage gravy (has to have a little sage in it)
Three pancakes (Swedish crepes if they've got them)
Fruit mix of watermelon, cantelope, grapes and raspberries
Hot chocolate

Smart aleck!!!
Quit laughing at my fried bologna. I'm sure my taste for it DID come from being on a "budget" growing up, mom n' pop had 9 kids to feed. Ate alot of beans and fried potatoes and home made biscuits too. :D
And...... YOU........ need to quit eating at Denny's so much. LMAO You just rattled off their breakfast special up there, ![lol lol](./images/smilies/emot-LOL.gif) ll.
If I'm wanting high fat rather than eating just what I want..... I'll go for a donut (or two, who knows.. maybe three) and a cup of Starbucks. (caramel machiato) And make it a triple shot.
(blech, that just sounds fattening)

Nevermind. Charm is still 1/2 asleep. Carry on, see you all later today. . True Story.
When I was in the military, I babysat my Master Sargent's kids when he would go out on a date. This went on for a few months. The two girls were just angels, and I would end up either playing Mario Bros with them on Nintendo, or watching Cable TV, and just check on them every now and then. Anyway, to pay back my kindness, he took me out to dinner with them. We went to a Red Lobster, and I was looking at the menu, and Doc (the father of the two girls) was patiently trying to tell the youngest girl (she was 5 and the other was 11) what was on the menu.
The waitress came over and asked us what we wanted. In a voice only King Kong should have been able to utter, this young girl sat up and proudly yelled out
"I WANT A BLOW ME SAMMICH!"
Doc and I just kinda sat there stunned, and the big sister looked at her sibling as if she'd grown an arm outta her back. The whole Restaurant exploded with laughter, and I found myself really embarrased and staring at Doc going, "Uh sarge, where did she pick THAT up?"

OMG, please don't ever let my husband learn that one, cause he'd use it to the point of irritating the hell outta me..... seriously.
One of his favorites? When I'm not feeling well?.... He'll ask me if I need some Pennis-cillin. LOL (had to spell it funny... dang censor caught it) haha
(should I have said that here?) LOL
But he uses and abuses corny phrases like that until I could literally yank my hair out....
I can imagine the look on your faces.
My dad used to tease my kids when he cooked something at our house (when they were little, he lived with us for a time).... about what they were eating, and my kids always fully believed him. My dad thought it was a riot until at Denny's one time, my daughter was about 4.... and asked the waitress if she could have some possum. LOL
She had apparently really liked something my dad had cooked her.... and he'd told her it was possum meat. I thought my dad was gonna have a chocking fit, and of course he had to explain to the waitress that no, he had never made possum for his grandkids, and then had to explain to the kids how he was joking. It was funny, cause for the longest my kids would say "mom, is this REALLY chicken?"... (or beef, or pork.....) haha
Blow Me Sammich....... That's pretty good. :D

Charmin! You're not reading me right here. I love fried bologna! I'm not poking fun at it. I am simply describing what it is. It is not expensive and it is very good like a delicacy. And Denny's just happens to have a breakfast combination that I have always liked. But they don't have sausage in their gravy or sage. They don't have crepes. They don't serve a fruit combo like that. Man, maybe I should have a press conference! LOL

"Then you wanna feel me and see if I have to go?"
