Thanks !    A few of us got together for the traditional ladies night activities around here !   and the discussion ensued, !

those yenta's always talk about stuff like their grandchildren, but there's so much more in life.  It seems like such a short time ago when Electrolux stores would refurbish their tweeded vacuum hoses, and cannister vacs for $30.  Now these stores that sell those good quality metal cannisters for reasonable prices or just fading by the wayside.  Kirby's are OK, but for a few of us, as we age they are heavy vacuums.  fine for a ranch, but for stairs and the split-level they just won't suffice.  Dyson's have those balls (from what I hear) and pivot really nicely.  Miele I really know little about, but they are supposedly the highest end vac's ?  or is this all subjective ?   Now what is Rainbow ?  are those just shampoo, steamer cleaners ?   I need to check out vacuum (dot com),  at least I think that's the site.   I buy my Kirby bags from them.  I wonder if they have hepa type or hypoallergenic bags..  I think my G-4 might take them, but my G-3 might not.  You have a lot of pets Jeanne,  Pet's can do wonders on a vacuums beater brush.  Constant cleaning !!!  Yet some also like Oreck !   Decisions decisions.   I think the large site is vacuums dot com.  I enjoyed parusing their merch.

Why do so many ladies own electroluxes ?   Is this just a tradition thang ?  Or is it the ease of the delivery of accessories if there's a problem ?  For some, that is a great thing.  My mom bought vacuum bags and had her vacuum adjusted by someone that came to the house, but quite honestly, I really can't understand in MOST cases the advantages of shlepping a canister around behind you.  At least with my Kirby's, there's a tech drive system where they recoil, and are self-propelled.  While I really like the beater head of the Hoover dial-a-matic, the belt being longer is probably more vulnerable than Kirby belts.  Can't be as strong if it's three times longer and standard rubber.   As for the others.  We should have a poll

Miele
Dyson
Electrolux
Kirby
Central vacuum
Oreck
Other  (please explain)

Look into getting a Roomba by iRobot. As long as you have no fringe on your rugs (insert appropriate inane remark here) they are wonderful, from what I hear. I have seen bad reviews, but my OCD boss loves his.

Steve, not to avoid your very important question but I have to ask this. Do you ever have those times when you feel less than fresh?

Why yes !    Thanks for asking.   It's times such as these I revel in the fact that I'm not only alive, BUT I'm a real man !    After all, what is the difference between man and a rock, or many other lower forms of inanimate objects ?   Body odor !    Now you tell me,  which would you rather be ?  So we must all join hands and rejoice in the divinity or our aromatic stench !   Praise the Lord !!   As the rationalists once said,  "I'd rather be stanky Socrates dissatisfied, than a pig wearing perfume satisfied."   Unfortuneately it's been some time since I studied areas of extrastencholism
