Should falsetto be "relaxed" or constricted ?

The overture from Tommy I must admit with some EQ'ing, some Reverberation, and mixing, and an actual microphone given some practice might work for me !! I'm trying to be objective.. Some of the quality I don't like can be EQ'd out, and with reverb and better equipment on a 2nd or 3rd attempt that might work. It'd be fun to mix that assuming I had a mixer.. Actually I have a few analog mixers.. I need to ask the tech forum how to hook those up...
Quote: Your vocals were a bit low, but this sounds like the type of song you can really excel in...
Dani, Are you familiar with George Harrisons "All Things Must Pass" Album ? That has a song on it "Beware of Darkness" I love.. Do you think Harrison might be something that'd be a possibility for me ?
I think Norwegion Wood is in the key of B, and I've noticed that around Bb has been comfortable for me.. Bb-C in the past... Yet I didn't think "comfortable" translated to better sounding.. It never seemed that way

Hmmmm, that is an interesting question really. I'd like to say *relaxed* but when I sing a falsetto note, sometimes it feels *constricted* I guess it depends on the person/song! Not sure really...

I'm not familiar with his album, but I have heard a few of his songs. Surely, you would sound fine if you sang a song by GH. Give it a whirl!

I've got something interesting coming up... Beatles psychedelic era... If you would you only need to listen to about two measures... I stood back from the microphone and really BELTED this out, and as a result my throat is now sore .. But this is kind've interesting.. It works, but it might not really be doable, or in time it MAY be ??? Dunno how much a person should "belt" out've comfortable register...I couldn't finish this song

Thank you Mikey, Appreciate it. As long as there's some improvement that's all I can ask for.. This won't happen overnight, I'm going to be realistic about it. and I REALLY appreciate the honesty, thank you ! I think as musicians we're in a different category than just for fun singers, we love music, take it seriously, and are willing to do whatever it takes to try to be decent and pay this aesthetic area the respect it deserves... So, I appreciate the comment !! It's not easy, but it's STILL loads of fun for me... I wish more people understood that it's OK for some of us to take music seriously and didn't frown on Critique, and TRUTHFULNESS... It's mandatory for those of us that REALLY want to learn how to sing..
Chuck,
For some unexpected reason the Who ballad came VERY easily to me. I'd not have guessed that.. I was in real voice, stood back from the microphone somewhat and that was all actual chest voice EXCEPT for "See me Feel Me".. and I cut the level to make the falsetto more tolerable. Behind Blue Eyes is tough because it hugs the falsetto line... and it's a weak area... Although I love that ballad it's tough, however Love aint for Keeping is one I can do easier...

Let me correct that Chuck, that MIGHT have been some of the throat voice you were discussing too, I sort've gagged on a few of the upper areas of the Who ballad... but they weren't headvoice. They were constricted and forced real voice..and they squeeked and sortuh hurt too

Goo goo goo joob, I can't wait until you decide to buy a condenser mic & recording software. I promise, you are gonna sound 100% better than you do now! You'll be so happy and feel much more confident when ya sing! It really does make a huge difference. You're getting there pal! :hi5:

I have the equipment Dani, I have the Shure SM series, I have audio technica microphones, and I've asked in the tech room how to hook my Tascam 6 track up to the computer.. One thing I've done is blown up hardware doing the most basic things such as attaching speakers. I'm not very technical.. I don't want any explosions.. I'll likely be doing this later today.. I need to figure out which tascam out to which computer in.... The tech forum will help me with that.. I have a studio here for those that CAN sing, but no digital interfacing to computer stuff...
