I have to agree with you Mr. Boo....
BTW, don't even bother to spend the money on it.... because you'll never play it anyway.
While others might argue that rap is simply another "artistic facet" in the music world, I personally don't consider it be "music." I would have to classify it as "bad poetry to a bad beat"
When some kid at a school dance asks me to play Eminem, I have to respond with; Me: "Are you going to dance to it?" Kid: "no" Me: "Then why would I play a song you're not going to dance to?... this IS a "school DANCE" right?" Kid: "Because it's cool!" Me: "Okay, just pick a happy, dance song by Eminem and I'll play it." Kid: "There aren't any." Me: "Exactly. It's cool on your iPod... but not here."

Does anybody have a comprehensive list of songs with explicit lyrics they would be willing to send me?

If such a list exists, please send me one too!
Not all discs are marked with warnings. Not only that, but some singers will attempt to sing explicit lyrics in place of the clean ones, as in "Forget You".

In case anyone missed it. The technology to change the on-screen lyrics by the word does exist now. Would this do any good?

The problem with a "list" of songs with "explicit" lyrics is that your idea and someone else's idea of "explicit" or "bad" words are and can be very different.
As in if it's in the song than it gets sung in just about every place, including so called high end ones, that we have been to around the country. But it seems that some people can't handle certain words to be said or sung.

I would consider any song with George Carlins list used in any song is a great start. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_dirty_words(@$%!)(@$%&#!) (@$%!) (@$%!) (@$%!)(@$%&#!) Our club don't allow any song with these. So they aren't even listed in the book. No one sees these songs, they don't sing them.

At the KaraokeFest Competition and the preliminary rounds of Creme de la Creme (Kids & King)
They were not permitted to sing songs that had explicit lyrics.
In fact, for the Kids we didn't permit Forget You by Cee Lo Green, because of the possibility of people knowing the other version!
I believe that at a Private Party or Home use whatever you want - in Public I believe it best to avoid these - although I have heard some raunchy songs by many. And people have modified lyrics...
Then there are a few innocent songs that can be heard and are meant to be otherwise: (@$%!) Cat Song...

Shorter or the same size works, larger is possible but it depends on how much larger and how much total space there is in that section of the file. There is no demo version because it is my own little work in progress. I would be happy to make the changes for you and send back the file. It seems each manu has his own bag of tricks when it comes to building a CDG file and Window 7 employs some weirdness that messes with the 30 year old CDG graphics, so it's a long way from even beta. But, you can get your files changed now and it helps my development process.

Pardon my Luddite self, but wouldn'y any karaoke creation software be able to edit the lyrics? If this is a stupid question, forgive me. I simply have no experience with them, just heard about them.

Exweedfarmer should be given major kudos for even trying something like this.. and it's looking REAL good.... The whole "cdg file" thing is a mixture of data streaming, timing, colors and pallets, pixel blocks, etc... it is NOT something that is "fun to do" because of the complexities... even after 30 years. For example: When you see a screen "fade to black" it actually isn't fading at all: The colors are simply being defined and cycled onto the screen in a darker shade -- over and over until it's the same color as the background. I salute Exweedfarmer and hope he finds his pants someday.

@ Joe: As Chip stated it is far easier to recreate the entire graphic file than to try and correct it. I have used CDGFix 3.0 for years, but for many other reasons rather than to fix the CDG (graphics) portion of the file.

Just to clarify or confirm, rap and hip hop can be two different things. There are many hip hops songs that will fill the floor instantly and most don't have the language issues. Still, it's talking and not singing.

But it looks like exweed has created a software that will easily change a word in whole - type and replace (as long as it's the same size or shorter), and not just pixel by pixel like in cdgfix.

When it's done it should do all sorts of fun and fancy things BUT it doesn't seem as though anyone really needs it. I don't know what I should do. Button it up the way it is and post a notice that it probably won't work in tiny print? Microflacid would sue me for trademark infringement.
It works with the files that I have in my collection but what about the rest? If you need something changed please send me only the CDG and I'll send the corrected version back.

In other words, when you make a change to a word, will it only change that one occurrence of the word – or will it change all occurrences of that "pattern" throughout the CDG file?

Could it possibly treat an entire line as if it were one long word? Then you might be able to type out the entire new line as if it were also just one long word. Then you might be able to replace a small word with a longer word. It would probably throw off the swiping though, right?
