If it's alcohol, we have it! Imported, of course, but here nevertheless!
Come on over and will split a case!

Trust me, you'll be made very welcome.
You may have to share a room with my computer but at least you'll be able to stay in touch with KaraokeScene!

This marketing tool Ron has is really neat..
(the zippered cocanuts) i still need to find out how he got them.. He told me once a year or so ago.. but i have forgotten.
anywho, these are actually really neat to put prizes in and a great thing to boost shows with for a "Kamakazi" karaoke thing..or any type of corperate or club show.. like he said he does it with trivia.. but I Actually have won one of these and they are so brilliant..
I'm willing to bet Ron will share.. if there is some interest.. this is awesome..

i personally dont see where karaoke has this rep you are talking about. i do wish there were better venues in this part of the backwoods. but most of the holes have decent acting people. boy, i hope i`m never that judgemental. i guess i`m one of those flame whatevers you were talking about. best regards,

Not sure what kind of venues you're looking for, but we do several venues in the county next to yours. Come sing with us sometime, k?

Ya know I was pondering this thread and come to the realization that:
A: It all depends on the venue....is it a bar, lounge, nite club, etc....
cause each has a different personality....as you already know I am
drawn to the seedier haunts....
AND
B: Karaoke has snobs and elitest just like every other part life....
My guess is a person is going to sing best where they are most comfortable....for me it's honky tonks....for someone else its carpeted floors and expensive drinks.....either way does it really matter...as long as we can sing our songs and feel the appluase.....

It is ironic that a recent form of entertainment, Karaoke, which started with a bunch of drunk Japanese bar patrons, now is debating which venue is best, or worst. Up or down, all around. Singing is an empowerment of ones individuality. Even if it is singing anothers song. The technolgy gives singing possiblities to the masses, so of course it is everywhere. From the Duke and Duchess to some of my friends who live in the bar. It's entertainment - for everyone, and that is it's power and prestige. It's a drug in the soul of a singer who just amazed themself they could do it so well. It is too broad to judge, but then that is human nature. To think they know the best for all. And so it goes, the growing up, of Karaoke.
I would guess most KJs play in a variey of Venues. Most want the highest paying/exposure Gigs. But these are not always available, particualrly with the newbies. So they do what they do. To say that it is bad for the image of Karaoke is not just absurd, but elitist. Karaoke already has come a long way, from drunk Japenses business men to little gils with their Barbie singing machines. So many places inbetween. And why? Well we love to sing, it is partially about sex. And sex and love - well that sounds like money and motivation to me.
