Singers who are a few beats ahead or behind of the music... many can be helped out just by singing with them for a few seconds and they get back on track.

But here's my question... really bad singers... the ones who are always way off key and make everybody cringe. Nails on a chalkboard.

Any ideas on dissuading them from putting in too many slips?

Thanks   (please don't think I'm evil)

P.S. I've thought about turning it positive and suggesting some songs for them to sing (audience participation songs) but haven't tried that yet.

skipping straight to the point, i have on occasion tried to match the key the the singer is in if they are consistently off key on that song.  i will stopp the music adn say over the mic "hey everybody, sorry about that.  iwas suppose to drop this song (or bump this song up) for so-and-so.  my bad!"  then make the pitch change and start the song over.  hopefully the singer will stay in the same key they were singing in before and no one will be the wiser.  sometimes, however they singer is still off key.   well, you tried!

believe people can stay at the bar as long as they aren't harming anyone or anything. It's their right to be there even if they don't drink or sing. There is no law that says you need to spend money at the bar to stay there. Period.

There's also no law preventing a non-public, privately owned business asking ANYBODY to leave its premisis for what it arbitrarily deems to be nuisance behaviour, or loitering.  Not all places must adhere to a democratic process.

If you owned the bar, then every homeless person and derelict from miles around is welcome to camp out in your restrooms forever?   Such a humanitarian. :worship:   Just stay for free as long as you like.  :O
