So I'm starting to rip my discs with Audiograbber and I'll be playing them in Virtual DJ (looking cool so far!) and I started wondering if I should put the maker of the cd (chartbuster, soundchoice, etc) in the tag somehow because there are those people that like certain versions.
I don't know all the features of VDJ at this point but I'm sure one of the things I'll be able to do is print books with it. I ALSO have KJPRO and I can certainly print books with it but it does include the number in the list which I don't need anymore since it's all digital....
Any suggestions?

my songtitles are the manu-disc#-songtitle - artist or manu-disc# - artist - song title...
back when I had kjpro installed on my pc, I used a nifty renaming tool that used it's database. Nowadays, I just hand type it.

Knight...can you use an example....like Crazy, Patsy Cline Soundchoice 104 (?? don't know if that's right or not - )....and then how would it show up in a book/printout? Like if the book is sorted by artist and song?
So if I put all the extra info in the tag won't it save me time from doing it later?

Mine books are all listed by disc number, no generics. SC8148, CB60355, THMR0607
SC=Sound Choice
CB=Chartbuster
THMR=Top Hits Monthly Rock
I do this simply because people are familiar with it, it takes no more space in the book & since my discs are my back up & on premises anyway, if the computer crashed, I still have all real numbers to work with.
More & more people are becoming brand conscious & do prefer certain versions over another & if the choice is there will pick. For me personally I won't sing at a show that I don't know which brand it is. Not going to keep asking the host they should be busy with the sound & keeping the show going, if they don't want to list the versions, then that's up to them.

So are your abbreviations reflected in the tag somehow? When you do a search on your laptop for a song and 3 or 4 come up, how do you determine which is which?

Other questions:
So on my ext hd I have a folder labeled "mp3" and a folder labeled "karaoke." In the karaoke folder should I have one folder for Chartbuster and then another folder with the specific disc #?

I must have been the only KJ who played to drunks. To a drunk SC104-15 looks about a hundred miles long. I suggest keeping the numbering system as short and simple as possible or use a kiosk and don't worry about it.

On the actual file itself I just have the cd manufacturer number only. I run Hoster so it will come up with Artist & Title there when i do a search & 3 or 4 show up, it shows which brand (duet/genre/brand/language/multiplex as well if you enter the data) within it's own search. When you rip into Hoster, you enter the cd you are ripping & it automatically tags within itself, not need to name the actual file with title/artist/number/etc...

That's your choice. I have one folder marked karaoke & all songs listed there.

I've never had many problems with the long numbers, if I did I would use a shorter method of some sort.
